Find Your Place ~ Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

Topic: Find Your Place [Sunday May 21, 2017]

“… Not by power, not by might, but by My Spirit, saith the LORD of hosts….” (Zech. 4:1-7)

The text above came at a period in the nation of Israel when they were building the temple of the LORD. At the time, there was opposition from without and within. Anytime a child of God decides to do anything for God, opposition arises.

In Zech 4:2-3, Zechariah saw a vision in which he saw a candlestick made of gold. The candlestick had seven branches whose end had a bowl each. In each bowl was a lamp. All seven bowls were connected with seven pipes to two olive trees. The olive trees were constantly supplying oil to the lamps, so that there was a constant supply of light.

Zechariah was surprised at what he saw because there was something unusual about the vision. Everything was as it should be in a temple except the two olive trees, which were a strange addition. They shouldn’t have been there because it is the duty of the priest in the temple to pour olive oil into the bowl for lighting of the lamps.

The question is, “What then would be the duty of the priest, if his duty is taken over by olive trees?” The vision means that at some point, whether there is a priest or not, the oil will flow. By extension, the church of Jesus Christ in the last days will not depend on a man. Its oil will flow directly from the Source. If you and I refuse to serve God, He will raise trees to serve Him. No power will stop the anointing of the Holy Ghost.

Does this say something to you? Oil is flowing into the church. God can do without you and me. You had better find your place now and let God use you. Thereafter you must work out your salvation.

Word of Wisdom: Anytime a child of God decides to do anything for God, opposition arises.

Prayer/Confession: LORD, use me, not trees, in Jesus’ name.
