Rhapsody Of Realities – Revelation Knowledge

Topic: Revelation Knowledge [11th November]

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue (2 Peter 1:3).

The English translation of the New Testament section of the Bible was derived from the Greek. The old Greek words are written differently from what you’d see in English, because the English language isn’t rich enough to express certain spiritual realities; it’s overly generic in nature.

For instance, the English language uses only one word to represent “love,” but in the Greek, about four different words are used. This helps to clarify what kind of love is being referred to.
When you say for example, “I love my wife,” in the Greek, it’s a different word from when you say, “I love my country.” Then when you say, “I love football,” that’s another Greek word.

The same goes for the word, “knowledge”; there’re at least four different words translated “knowledge” in Greek. Our opening verse says, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue” (2 Peter 1:3). Knowledge” here isn’t dealing with general knowledge or the knowledge of science (Greek: “Gnosis”) but with absolute knowledge that comes through revelation and relationship; the Greek word is “epignosis.”

2 Peter 1:2 says, “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.” This means, if you want to multiply grace and peace in your life, you’ve got to know more about God and Jesus Christ. You have to have the “epignosis” of God and of Jesus our Lord. “Epignosis” is the precise and accurate knowledge of God that you gain through revelation and meditation.

This type of knowledge isn’t just something you acquire from reading history books; it’s a revelation that’s granted you. A part of it is already given to you in the scriptures, while the rest of it is through your relationship with God, and fellowship with the Holy Spirit; all in consistency with the Word. Hallelujah!

PRAYER.

Dear Father, I thank you for the enlightenment I receive from students the Scriptures. Through consistent study and meditation on your Word , I increase in knowledge ; great and peace are multiplied in my life . I have dominion in every situation , in Jesus ‘ Name . Amen .
