Topic: Who Influences You Negatively?[Sunday March 19, 2017]
“Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?” (John 21:15)
In the absence of negative influences, many people would heed God’s instruction. When you run from prophet to prophet and your life does not change, who is to blame? The question is, How did you begin to consult them?’ Someone must have dropped the evil seed in your heart.
When Jesus had finished feeding His disciples, He turned to Peter who was the chief influencer and asked him three times, “Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these?” In other words, “Do you love me more than worldly goods and food?” Jesus rebuked him in public, not in private.
Many people are influenced by their peers They refuse to come to church or participate in church activities because of what one of their peers has to say or because of what one of them may have to say. Adults have their own fair share of peer pressure. If you are the type that likes being involved actively in the things of God, soon, some persons would be insinuating whether you were the one that killed Jesus. Others would mockingly say that you are carrying the church on your head. Some uncharitable peers would discourage you from giving money to God. But the Bible says that when you give, it will be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over.
Whose word will you believe? Your peers’ or God’s? What is the negative influence on your life? Today, you will shake it off
Word of Wisdom: Be zealous. You will be glorious while they remain jealous.
Prayer/Confession: In the name of Jesus, today, I shake out of every negative influence. Father, remove from my life any of my peers that has a view that is contrary to your word.
