The 18th annual BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Music Honors went down last night in Atlanta at the Rialto Center for the Arts.
The night paid tribute to iconic gospel singer/songwriter Marvin Sapp and was hosted for the second consecutive year by previous Trailblazer recipient and renowned gospel singer/songwriter Yolanda Adams, along with gospel singer/songwriter VaShawn Mitchell. The who’s who of the gospel music industry were on hand for the event. Check out the pics:

BMI’s Most Performed Gospel Song of the Year, “Wanna Be Happy?” written by Kirk Franklin and Al Green, was recognized, and also “123 Victory” was recognized for being one of the most performed songs of the year. Kirk, who was just in Haiti, flew back in time to make the event.

R&B Singer Tank paid tribute to Marvin Sapp performing “Grace and Mercy”, and also let the gospel singer know how much he’s taught him over the years.

And the man of the hour, Bishop Marvin Sapp. BMI honored Marvin Sapp for his indisputable musical contributions to the gospel community.
