Topic: A One-Way Street
Date: Friday, February 11, 2022
Read: Matthew 7:13-14
Matthew 7:13-14 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.
MEMORISE:
There is a way that seems right to a man, but it’s end is the way of death (Proverbs 14:12)
EXPOSITION
It is interestingly shocking to hear that during many court proceedings, there are recurring episodes, sometimes comic and too often, tragic, that some drivers get caught by traffic cameras, going the wrong way on a one-way street. Their reasons vary. Some do it in the stupor of sleepiness. Some are betrayed by their sight and have misread the signs. Still, others deny they were ever going the wrong way until the traffic, or a tragedy proved them wrong. Occasionally, few people do that with malicious intents to harm others or themselves. The strange thing about these excuses is that, they are aching reasons why some believers, the heavenly travellers, converging in the church, are walking the wrong way to eternity (cf. Matt. 7:21). This is baffling!
Jesus said in John 14:6, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No man comes to the Father but by me’. Without ambiguity, Jesus stated it clearly that He is the only one-way street [narrow gate] to eternity with God, but ‘there are few who find it’ (Matt. 7:14). There is no hope of heaven for those who do not believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. No salvation, no heaven. No Christ, no salvation.
However, despite that understanding, the shocking thing is that, among those who believe and say, “Lord, Lord…” are those who will not make it to heaven, but to everlasting hell. The reason being that many believers are walking the wrong way on a one-way street of salvation, which has no options of a U-Turn or Waiting or Parking on the curb.
Anyone who tolerates or makes excuses for the works of the flesh found in Galatians 5:19-21, is walking the wrong way. Examine yourself today (2 Cor. 13:5) and allow the Holy Spirit to help you live by the fruit of the Spirit daily, lest when the heavenly court sits after your exit on earth, you are caught in the camera having walked the wrong way on a one-way street throughout your professed faith-life.
PRAYER POINTS:
1. O Lord, open my inner eyes of understanding to correct my erring before it is too late.
2. Lord Jesus, You are the only Way to God; I believe. Help me to hold unto You and this faultless Truth doggedly, till the end.
3. Pray for CAC Latunde Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and its officers at the various levels, as led by the Spirit of God.
