Date: Thursday, March 3, 2022
Read: Luke 22:31-32
31 And the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat.
32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”
MEMORISE:
Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world (1 Peter 5:9)
EXPOSITION
The Bible clearly declares that the world is a war zone. All humans are faced with just one common adversary, the devil. Unfortunately, not every soul believes that he exists, and even those who seem to, sometimes seldom comprehend the fact that he prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking to devour them (1 Pet. 5:8).
The devil camouflages his identify and strategies through the complexities of what civilisation and modernisation offer. Only those who are truly redeemed of the Lord, and strictly adhere to sound teachings of the Scripture would discern and escape his wiles.
Once a soul gets born again, Satan’s agenda is launched against his commitment to God. This is what the Lord warned Peter against, saying, ‘Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat’ (Lk. 22:31). Are you already a disciple of Christ? Then, put on the whole armour of God through earnest prayers, lest you are tricked by the adversary, the devil. Judas Iscariot lost to Satan’s tricks unguarded. May every move of the devil against you be destroyed, henceforth in the name of the Lord Jesus. Amen.
Let the Holy Spirit, through the sound Word of God, be your girdle against all spotted weaknesses and frailties. Your heart’s resolution alone cannot ward off the works of the flesh warring against your soul. Be vigilant as to the company of friends you keep in this heavenly race on earth (Prov. 13:20). Saturate yourself always with defensive and offensive prayers (Eph. 6:18). Unfortunately, Simon Peter missed his moments of prayer watch (Matt. 26:40-41) and denied his Master three times (Lk. 22:61). You have the privilege not to give place to the devil as Peter did, if you stop the adversary, now, before he stops your walk with God. You can, for the Word of God says so (Eph. 4:27).
PRAYER POINTS
1. Satan, I rebuke you over my life, home and endeavours. You are subdued, in Jesus’ name.
2. Devil, you have been put under my feet by the atoning work of my Lord Jesus (Rom. 16:20). I crush you and your wiles and agents to death, in Jesus’ name.
3. Pray for CAC Adelaja Region, our father in the Lord, the Superintendent, and its officers at the various levels, as led by the Spirit of God.
