DCLM Daily Manna 1 February 2023 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Beyond The Beauty Of Solomon’s Temple

TOPIC: Beyond The Beauty Of Solomon’s Temple (DCLM Daily Manna 1 February 2023)

KEY VERSE: “7 And he made ten candlesticks of gold according to their form, and set them in the temple, five on the right hand, and five on the left. 8 He made also ten tables, and placed them in the temple, five on the right side, and five on the left. And he made an hundred basons of gold.” (2 Chronicles 4:7-8).

TEXT: 2 Chronicles 4:1-8 (KJV)

1 Moreover he made an altar of brass, twenty cubits the length thereof, and twenty cubits the breadth thereof, and ten cubits the height thereof.

2 Also he made a molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and five cubits the height thereof; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.

3 And under it was the similitude of oxen, which did compass it round about: ten in a cubit, compassing the sea round about. Two rows of oxen were cast, when it was cast.

4 It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward.

5 And the thickness of it was an handbreadth, and the brim of it like the work of the brim of a cup, with flowers of lilies; and it received and held three thousand baths.

6 He made also ten lavers, and put five on the right hand, and five on the left, to wash in them: such things as they offered for the burnt offering they washed in them; but the sea was for the priests to wash in.

7 And he made ten candlesticks of gold according to their form, and set them in the temple, five on the right hand, and five on the left.

8 He made also ten tables, and placed them in the temple, five on the right side, and five on the left. And he made an hundred basons of gold.

MESSAGE:

The construction of King Solomon’s great temple went on for seven long years when its furniture, its courtyard and its fittings for decorations were completed. The interior of the temple was lavishly beautified. The stonework was overlaid with beaten gold. There were golden basins for frequent washing of hands and feet. It was a privelege to be considered worthy to enter the magnificent temple to worship.

The record and description of the temple’s furnishing are stated in the text. Most of the items and vessels inside the temple were made of gold. These included the ten candlesticks, five on each side to the temple and one hundred basons of gold.

The beautiful gold of the Solomon’s temple is, however, a fraction of that of the New Jerusalem, the holy habitation of God whose streets are made of gold. The beauty of this holy city can never be described with the language of man on earth. This is the place Christ has prepared for believers. The magnificence of this city prepared by Christ can never be compared with that of King Solomon’s temple which was construct by mortals.

Beyond physical temples, God has said that believers are His temples which He inhabits (1 Corinthians 6:19). This temple should therefore be garnished, beautified and cleansed through genuine salvation and true holiness. God warns that whoever defiles this temple shall be destroyed. Believers should take heed what they do with the temple of God.

If you are yet to get converted to Christ, you have an ample opportunity to do so now by repenting of your sins and placing your faith in Him. Then, you will become God’s temple and have the privilege of dwelling with Him in heaven.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God must dwell in you before you can dwell with Him.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Matthew 8-9
