Pastor W. F. Kumuyi

DCLM Daily Manna 27 November 2023 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Faith Conquers

TOPIC: Faith Conquers (DCLM Daily Manna 27 November 2023)

KEY VERSE: “Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens” (Hebrews 11:33,34).

TEXT: Hebrews 11:30-40 (KJV)

30 By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.

31 By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with peace.

32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:

33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions.

34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

35 Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:

36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:

37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;

38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

MESSAGE:

Air, water and fire are known to be among the world’s most powerful elements. Nothing can stand on the way of their devastating force. They can destroy whatever they come in contact with. Faith, however, has been proved to be far more potent. It is one force that has the ability to control all the elements of nature even though it is not visible to the human eyes.

Chapter 11 of the book of Hebrews is a classic record of powerful exploits of faith. The verses for our meditation today give a quick summary of the inexhaustible account of what ordinary people can accomplish through faith. Christian faith conquers civilisation, makes sinners into sons and daughters of God, produces good fruit, helps Christians face trial with steadfastness, and finally helps them look forward to the future glory of all saints.

If the Old Testament believers whose stories we read about in the Book of Hebrews can have as much victory as they did, then today’s Christians have no reason not to live a conquering and victorious life. We have the power to overcome and be all God wants us to be today. We have what it takes to turn the tide of the world in our favour and can conquer the hardest of sinners for Christ. We can endure whatever trial and come out victorious. We remain formidable and unconquerable no matter what enemy confronts us.

Realising how powerful faith is, our focus as Christians should be on building up this most holy arsenal. Develop your faith through regular and consistent study of the word of God. Put your faith to use at every given opportunity. Do not ever let any situation cast your back to the ground. Stand and face every challenge by faith.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Nothing can stand the power of faith.
