DCLM Daily Manna – Peace That Conquers Worry

DCLM Daily Manna

DCLM Daily Manna 15 January 2021 Devotional By Pastor William Folorunso Kumuyi

Topic: Peace That Conquers Worry

Text: John 14:21-31 (KJV)

21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.

22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?

23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.

24 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.

25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.

26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe.

30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

Key Verse: “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid” (John 14:27).

MESSAGE:

Many people cannot conceive of life without worry and anxiety. They live in an environment entirely consumed by frenetic activities. They are troubled by events around them, and literally worry themselves to death on fears that may in the end, not materialise. They develop new sicknesses entirely from worrying too much.

The problem really is that while such people may claim to love the Lord, in reality, His word is not deeply rooted in them. Yet, obedience to the word of the Lord is the proof that you love Him. Only then can you enjoy a flourishing fellowship with God the Father and the Son. It also admits the Holy Spirit into your life, enabling Him to guide, counsel, lead and direct your conduct. He continuously reminds you of the word of the Lord and enables you to obey God.

In such a condition, there is no longer a place for worry and anxiety in your life. You experience profoundly deep and enduring peace, which only the Lord can give. You are no longer troubled, irrespective of what is happening around you. He breaks the captivity and bondage of fear, which destroys faith and therefore, leaves people as victims in the hand of the enemy. When you obey God, you are affirming your faith in Jesus Christ, His Son. And just as Satan could not overpower Jesus, even so his evil actions against your life will fail.

The peace our Lord Jesus Christ promised believers is not the absence of trouble or trials, but a calming comfort and assurance that God is in control of whatever situation you may be going through. This is not positive or sheer motivational thinking. It is knowing that because you are a child of God, He will not allow the devil to triumph over you.

Thought For Today: The peace of the Lord brings calm confidence in the face of the storms of life.
