DCLM Daily Manna 28 September 2024 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — “Power Of Spoken Word”
TOPIC: “Power Of Spoken Word” (DCLM Daily Manna 28 September 2024)
KEY VERSE: “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them” – Mark 11:24
TEXT: Mark 11:20-24 (KJV)
20 And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
MESSAGE:
One of the most remarkable accounts of creation is as the Bible records, after God had formed the earth, He spoke into existence the planet’s living and non-living inhabitants. “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light…” There was instantaneous transmission of power from the spoken word to cause the manifestation of the desired objective.
Christ teaches about the power of faith in believers’ words. Faith is the currency of all transactions between the believer and God. With complete trust in the Lord, the redeemed can speak solu tion to any situation through the name of Jesus. One man in Christ’s time who realised the all-conquering power of the spo ken word was the centurion who came to Christ for help. He said he did not need Jesus to physically meet his “grievously tormented” servant for healing, but pleaded: “…speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed.”
We shall achieve far more in our work for the Lord and in our day-to-day activities if we come to terms with the spiritual reality of the link between what we say and what we receive. The early disciples were not bereft of this knowledge, and so, they pleaded for nothing else but faith. Today, it is also the weapon we require to beat off, through prayer, the works of the devil.
Believers must shun negative, worldly lingo that will not draw unbelieving neighbours to Christ’s kingdom. Our speeches must convey infectious hope that displaces prevalent helplessness hanging over humanity. Each day we wake up, we should acknowledge the goodness of God and prophesy that Christ’s kingdom will overthrow the works of Satan.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
You get what you say, if you back it with faith.
