DCLM Daily Manna 9 August 2023 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Prepare For Your Opportunity
TOPIC: Prepare For Your Opportunity (DCLM Daily Manna 9 August 2023)
KEY VERSE: “Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking” (Ruth 3:3).
TEXT: Ruth 3:1-7 (KJV)
1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?
2 And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.
3 Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.
4 And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.
5 And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.
6 And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.
7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.
MESSAGE:
Life is full of challenges and without doubt, places a lot of pressures on us.
Our passage reflects the desire of Naomi, Ruth’s mother-in-law, to resettle the young widow fully and propel her into a future of peace and prosperity. She gave her clear steps to take and Ruth observed the instructions painstakingly. Unsurprisingly, she got a wonderful testimony that resonates till today.
Our disposition and attitude to challenges will determine whether we will overcome or be overwhelmed. Positive attitude, carefulness and faith in God helps us to look beyond the present to a future of fulfilment and bliss. It is wrong to allow our present circumstance or situation, no matter how bad, to affect and hinder us from making progress. When we dwell too much on our present, it will no doubt becloud our vision and ability to see the glorious future God has prepared for us.
Drawing lessons from this account, we must never forget that God knows everything from the beginning to the end of our lives. We must, therefore, obey His commands and follow the guidance of His Spirit at all times. Inwardly and outwardly, we must maintain a holy and beautiful disposition with decency. Jesus Christ alone can give us rest from life troubles. He is the only One who can make our small beginning to greatly increase. However, this will only happen if we obey and serve Him (Job 36:11). It requires that we take positive steps today to heed God’s call to surrender to Him and allow Him to guide us. To prepare for our eternal rest, we must wash and be cleansed in the blood of the Lamb so we can be clothed with the raiment of righteousness.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
A closer walk with God is the key for every overcomer.
