DCLM Daily Manna 15 April 2021 Devotional By Pastor W. F Kumuyi – Taking Out The Predator

TOPIC: Taking Out The Predator

TEXT: Esther 9:13-19

13 Then said Esther, If it please the king, let it be granted to the Jews which are in Shushan to do to morrow also according unto this day’s decree, and let Haman’s ten sons be hanged upon the gallows.

14 And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman’s ten sons.

15 For the Jews that were in Shushan gathered themselves together on the fourteenth day also of the month Adar, and slew three hundred men at Shushan; but on the prey they laid not their hand.

16 But the other Jews that were in the king’s provinces gathered themselves together, and stood for their lives, and had rest from their enemies, and slew of their foes seventy and five thousand, but they laid not their hands on the prey,

17 On the thirteenth day of the month Adar; and on the fourteenth day of the same rested they, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

18 But the Jews that were at Shushan assembled together on the thirteenth day thereof, and on the fourteenth thereof; and on the fifteenth day of the same they rested, and made it a day of feasting and gladness.

19 Therefore the Jews of the villages, that dwelt in the unwalled towns, made the fourteenth day of the month Adar a day of gladness and feasting, and a good day, and of sending portions one to another.

KEY VERSE“And the king commanded it so to be done: and the decree was given at Shushan; and they hanged Haman’s ten sons.” – (Esther 9:14)

MESSAGE:

Sierra Leonean writer and filmmaker, Mallence Bart-Williams in her address at a conference in Berlin on Africa and the World, said, “Have you ever wondered how things work out in nature? In nature, any specie in the delicate ecosystem that is over-hunting and over-exploiting the natural resources that every other creature depends on for nourishment, natural selection will sooner or later take the predator out because it offsets the balance”. The conference was on the exploitation and destabilisation of the African continent by the West, and Africa’s rising prospects.

Haman was that kind of predator. His ten sons were hanged and the Jews had a relief. Haman was vicious and dangerous. He was not satisfied with crushing Mordecai alone, but also used his privileged position to plot the destruction of the entire Jewish race. Fortunately, God turned things around and the hunter suddenly became the hunted. Haman died an inglorious death on the special gallows he erected for Mordecai. The Jews declared those days as public holidays to celebrate and praise the Lord who turned their sorrow into joy.

Haman had clearly abused his powers and was not only a liability to the human race. He was also morally and spiritually bankrupt. It will be a disaster to have people with this kind of mindset in government or in position of leadership.

Humiliation and disgrace often follow when power is abused and used as a tool of destruction against innocent people. When God, like the daylight sun, eventually arises for His people, the darkness is forced to retreat.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
The wicked should expect their day in heaven’s court sooner or later.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
Acts 15-17
