Dr. Mike Okonkwo – Love Does Not Imagine Evil

Topic: Love Does Not Imagine Evil [Wednesday January 3, 2018]

“And let none of you imagine evil in your hearts against his neighbour; and love no false oath: for all these are things that I hate, saith the LORD.” Zechariah 8:17 (KJV)

The call to love is not new and it is not just a function of the New Testament. God did not become love in the New Testament, He has always been Love and when He made Man, He breathed into man the breath of life, in other words, being made in the image of God gave Man the capacity to walk in love.

Of course, the things changed when man fell, but God has since been calling Man back to Himself and back to a life of love. In our scripture today, God broke it down for the Children of Israel by saying don’t even imagine evil in your heart against your neighbour. As we journey into this year, God is calling us to a higher level of relationship. Don’t pick and choose who to relate to. Don’t join the company of those who pull others down with the words of their mouth. Make a quality decision to stand and walk in love. Love is the only thing that differentiates us from the world. Remember: by this shall men know that you are the disciples of Christ when you have love one for another.

In the coming days, we will look at certain characteristics of love and see what God expects of us. If we must see and experience the commanded blessing that God has in store for us, then we must walk in love.
