Topic: Where Are You Sitting? [Saturday August 26, 2017]
“And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.” Luke 10:39 (KJV)
Our text today is the story of two sisters, Mary and Martha. Martha decided to host Jesus and made all the preparations necessary to host Him. When Jesus arrived, she welcomed Him heartily into her home and made Him feel comfortable. But her sister Mary went to sit at His feet. She had heard so much about this Jesus, that she wasn’t going to allow this very exceptional moment pass her by. She wanted to glean as much as she could from this man named Jesus. On the other hand, Martha was more concerned about the meals, about serving Jesus and His entourage. There is nothing wrong with that, after all, she was being hospitable and taking care of Jesus. But Jesus made her understand that the most important position an individual can ever take, was that which Mary chose – to sit at His feet.
Child of God, I want to ask you today, where are you sitting? Where you sit determines what you hear, what you hear determines what you think, and what you think determines the actions you take; which ultimately determines the results you get. So I ask again, where are you sitting? Yes, I know you have to go to work, you have to pursue the business documents and you have to do different things. But Jesus is saying the most important position is at His feet, listening to the words from His lips. Beloved, I submit to you that distractions come when you leave that position. And it is the ploy of the enemy in these last days, to cause you to lose focus, and ensure that you are not positioned to receive from God.
I encourage you today, make a quality decision to sit at His feet and pay attention to His Word. Live daily on the words from His mouth. No matter the noise in the world, tune your ears to hear Him and don’t just hear; also be a doer. I believe, without a shadow of doubt that you will testify. God will give you mind-blowing revelations that will make you a wonder to your world.
