Topic: You Have Received The Spirit Of Christ [Thursday August 17, 2017]
“And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba Father.” Galatians 4:6 (KJV)
In Ephesians 2:11-13, Paul describes the state of our lives prior to being born again. We were dead in trespasses and sin under the control of the devil. We were fulfilling the lusts of the flesh because we possessed the fallen nature. In Adam, we were all born with the sinful nature. But see what happens when you received Jesus: The sinful nature which hitherto plagued and enslaved you were put off, and you took upon you the very nature of God in Christ Jesus. Your spirit is now made alive through the power of the Holy Spirit who dwells in you.
When you received Christ, you were not refurbished or repaired; you were made brand new. You became a living soul. Your spirit man, which was dead in sin, came alive.
As long as you are a believer, you have received the Spirit of Christ. Therefore, as the very Spirit of Christ dwells in you, you share identity with Christ. So the question is, “Who is Christ?” He is the anointed One. The Second person of the Holy Trinity. Throughout the scriptures, we read of all the miracles that He wrought, and how He healed the multitudes of their infirmities and diseases. Even when the religious leaders of the day tried to ensnare Him, He exhibited wisdom superior to what they had ever encountered.
Beloved, Jesus was, and still remains undefeated. The Bible makes us understand that as He is, so are we in this world. So if Jesus cannot be defeated, you also cannot be defeated. You are seated in heavenly places in Christ, at the right hand of the Father, far above principalities, powers, dominions, and thrones (Ephesians 1:20-21). It is not in the character of your shared identity in Christ, to be subject to any situation or circumstance. You are an overcomer. You have a responsibility to live true to your identity. So rise up in the knowledge of who you are and make the difference in your world for the kingdom.
