Five singles and one studio video in and he has another one on here. 2020 has been a very productive year for Nigerian Gospel Singer-songwriter John Olumayowa. The prolific recording artiste returns again with a song for the moment; Freedom.
On October 20, 2020, Nigeria witnessed yet another tragedy that shook everyone in it to the bones especially the youths and while a lot has been said, is still being said and will continue to be said concerning the infamous incident that is now been referred to as the Lekki Massacre, John Olumayowa decides to pour out his emotions in this emotional song.
“My eyes are full of tears as heroes are falling/ blood is gushing/ our hearts are bleeding”
Lines like this make the song heavy with emotions, pain and hope. Concerning the song, John Olumayowa says
“…the tragedy of 20.10.2020 will forever be on our minds. I could feel the pain of the Nigerian youths; those who lost their lives and parents who lost their children. Many lost their jobs and properties were vandalized in the madness that engulfed the country. Right now we know that the only voice that matters is the voice of God and we call upon Him to grant our dear country Freedom. We pray to God to turn around the fortunes of this country.”
John Olumayowa is currently working on the visuals of the song and a future release has been slated.
Freedom is produced and mixed by dharpsykord.

Lyrics: Freedom By John Olumayowa
My eyes are full of tears
As heroes are falling
And blood is gushing
Our hearts are bleeding
Our heads are bow down
We are confused
Let your salvation come
Our hope is raised to you
We ‘re already praying in our hearts
Chorus
Freedom 8x
The tears and the pains
The killings and uproar
Many are are homeless
Many are childless
Many are suffering
Many are jobless
We lift our voice of petition
For our motherland
Lord send your salvation right now
Chorus
Freedom 8x
Arise, O Compatriots,
Nigeria’s call obey
To serve our Fatherland
With love and strength and faith.
The labour of our heroes past
Shall never be in vain,
To serve with heart and might
One nation bound in freedom, peace and unity.
Chorus
Freedom 6x
Calling Freedom 2x
