Nigerian-born, U.S based indigenous Gospel minister Joy Okeke has officially unveiled her powerful new single and music video titled “Odogwu.”
The song was released on February 28, specially timed to celebrate her birthday, making it both a musical offering and a personal thanksgiving to God.
“Odogwu,” an Igbo word that means Great Warrior, is more than just another Gospel release. It is a heartfelt testimony wrapped in melody. In this powerful sound, Joy Okeke boldly celebrates God as her Defender, Protector, and the Mighty Man of War who has fought her battles through seasons of waiting, challenges, victories, and triumph.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Joy shared that “Odogwu” reflects her personal journey of faith:
“This is not just a song; it is my testimony. God has been faithful through every season. He has fought for me, strengthened me, and shown Himself mighty in my life.”
Musically, “Odogwu” carries strong indigenous Gospel elements blended with vibrant praise rhythms and contemporary production. The song flows with deep worship expression while still igniting a joyful, celebratory atmosphere, the kind that makes you reflect, then rise to dance in gratitude.
The official music video, released alongside the audio, further brings the message to life. With powerful visuals that echo themes of victory, strength, and thanksgiving, the video beautifully complements the sound and message of the song.
As indigenous Gospel music continues to gain global visibility, especially among Nigerians in the diaspora, Joy Okeke joins a growing number of ministers using African language and culture to project a universal message of faith, gratitude, and triumph.
“Odogwu” is now available on all major digital streaming platforms and YouTube.
