Topic: Remember God’s Great Deeds [Sunday March 5, 2017]
Text: Psalm 105:1-7
Key Verse: “Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth” (Psalm 105:5).
Challenges of life have a way of blanking out people’s minds. Some people assume that they are the most unfortunate people on earth. Soon, they become numb and bitter about everything and everyone. None of these attitudes has ever been helpful for those facing problems. If anything, they make their situation appear worse and more hopeless than they truly are. David’s life experiences, trust and dependence on God at every turn in life are note-worthy.
He cultivated the habit of giving thanks to the Lord, singing psalms to Him and speaking of His wondrous works. Daily, he would call on God. He sought the Lord at all times. He leaned on His strength. He remembered God’s marvellous works: His miracles, signs and wonders. He gave glory to His holy name. We too must cultivate the habit of never forgetting what God had done in our lives in the past. He saved us from sin; He removed all guilt, shame and judgment from us. He gave us a new nature, made us His children, and became our Father.
When we were sick, He healed us. When we lacked, He supplied our need. He loves us so dearly. Remembering all His works encourages us to draw closer to Him, be thankful always, tell others about what He has done for us, show His glory to others always and offer our best in service to Him.
Thought for the day: Remember God’s wonders and serve Him.
