Topic: Filled With All His Fullness [19th August 2017]
And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God (Ephesians 3:19).
Real and authentic Christianity is being filled with the fullness of God. Apart from His extraordinary birth, what made Jesus different from every other prophet that came before Him was the Holy Spirit in Him; that made Him the Christ. Some people say that “Christ” merely means the anointed one. Well, there’s a different sense to this. We know the prophets of old were also anointed: Joshua, Moses, David, Elisha, Samuel, Aaron, and several other prophets in the Old Testament. Howbeit, they had the Spirit in a measure.
What made the difference for Jesus is that He had the Spirit without measure; He had the fullness of the Spirit. John 3:34 says, “For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.” The prophets were all given the Spirit by measure. For instance, the Bible tells us about Joshua: “And Joshua the son of Nun was full of the spirit of wisdom; for Moses had laid his hands upon him…” (Deuteronomy 34:9). Moses did that because God asked him to lay his hands on Joshua.
However, in the case of Jesus, He was filled with God. He didn’t just have the Spirit of wisdom, He was wisdom personified. The man, Christ Jesus, was filled with the fullness of God, letting us know that we can also be filled with the fullness of God, for as He is, so are we in this world (1 John 4:17). The Bible says, “For it has pleased [the Father] that all the divine fullness (the sum total of the divine perfection, powers, and attributes) should dwell in Him permanently” (Colossians 1:19 AMPC).
Colossians 2:10 says, “And ye are complete in him….” You’re complete in the One in whom the sum total of the divine perfection, powers and attributes permanently dwells. What a blessed reality! It means Christ has found a resting place in you. Everything you require in life is within you. You carry the maximum load of God! Therefore, face life with the consciousness of a victor. You can do anything. Hallelujah!
CONFESSION
Dear Father, I thank you, for I have received the Spirit without measure, because as Jesus is, so am I in this world. I’m filled with the fullness of God; therefore, nothing is impossible to me. I face life with the consciousness of a victor. I can do anything, because my sufficiency is of God. Hallelujah!
