Dunamis Seeds Of Destiny 2 September 2025 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche: Character – A Gateway To Destiny
TOPIC: Character – A Gateway To Destiny (Seeds Of Destiny 2 September 2025)
SCRIPTURE: But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. Daniel 1:8
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Your character is a prophecy of your destiny.
MESSAGE:
It has been established throughout Scripture that character defines destiny. Anyone who is interested in the fulfilment of purpose and destiny must be interested in character development.
There are scriptural examples of those who fulfilled destiny by virtue of maintaining strong character.
Today, we shall be looking at the story of Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego. They were young Hebrew captives in Babylon serving under a heathen king named Nebuchadnezzar. It was customary of the king to sacrifice food and drinks to idols and bring the same food and drinks to all the people who were in the palace to eat. Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were to partake of the food, but this was food that had already been dedicated to idols, so they refused to eat. The prince of the eunuchs told them, “If you don’t eat, you will become malnourished and lean unlike your other mates.” (Paraphrased.) But they stood their ground and requested only water and vegetables instead, assuring the prince of the eunuchs that at the end of ten days, they would look much better than those who ate the king’s meal.
The truth is, if God has blessed the water that you are drinking, it is far better than any meat that is corrupt. No wonder, the Bible confirms that after ten days, they were fatter and fresher than those who ate the king’s meal (Daniel 1:15).
Beloved, if God has blessed your water, you don’t need the meat that has been defiled. You will be far better than those who are eating in prosperity that is corrupt. Daniel and his friends refused to compromise, and because they maintained their stand, they were ten times better both physically and in matters of wisdom, counsel, and understanding than all their contemporaries who compromised.
Nothing affects destiny like the heart; when the heart is defiled, destiny is challenged. Who you are affects what you will become. Your character is a prophecy of your destiny. In other words, the way you are behaving now is a prophecy of who and what you will become in future. You cannot behave it and not become it. However you behave now is the determinant of what you will become later.
Judas Iscariot was stealing money habitually, and at the end of the day, that character led him to where he did not bargain for. Character will make you or mar you. Your character will either be your worst undoing or your greatest uplifting. Your action today predicts your destination tomorrow.
Beloved, you cannot do anything about your destiny until you have done something about your character. You cannot do anything about your future until you have done something about your nature.
Remember this: Your character is a prophecy of your destiny.
