Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – Forgiveness – An Ingredient For Answered Prayer

Dunamis Seeds Of Destiny 18 May 2025 Devotional By Dr. Paul Enenche: Forgiveness – An Ingredient For Answered Prayer

TOPIC: Forgiveness – An Ingredient For Answered Prayer (Seeds Of Destiny 18 May 2025)

SCRIPTURE: And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. Mark 11:25

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Until you let go of what is behind, you can’t lay hold of what is ahead.

MESSAGE:

Prayer is an art that can be taught. It is an art that is designed to register impact on three personalities – God, the devil, and the one who prays (Luke 9:29).

The tragedy, however, is that there are many people whose prayers affect nobody – God is untouched, the devil is unmoved, and they themselves are left unchanged. This is probably because they have not properly learnt the art of praying.

So, today, we are going to look at one of the things to do for our prayer to be answered, and that is forgiveness.

Our anchor scripture says, And when ye stand praying, forgive. That is, if you are interested in securing God’s attention in prayer, forgive. Praying with bitterness is praying in frustration.

Forgiveness is key to fruitfulness. Why is it so? Joseph, for instance, passed through terrible things – being cast into the pit, being sold into slavery in Potiphar’s house, and being unjustly imprisoned. That is, he went through the pit, slavery and prison.

But when he came out of prison and God made him the Prime Minister of Egypt, he gave birth to his first son and called him Manasseh which means, “I forget, and by extension – everything my brothers did to me.” Then he gave birth to the second child and called him Ephraim. Ephraim means ‘fruitful’. So, forgetting (the past) is before fruitfulness (in the present).

And of course, forgiveness precedes forgetting. It will be difficult, if not impossible, to forget an offence if you have not yet forgiven the offender. And where forgiveness is lacking, fruitfulness is not in view. Your spiritual life can never be fruitful, your prayer life can never be fruitful, if there are people you have kept in the prison of your heart. Holding on to the things of the past deprives you of so many good things in both the present and the future. Until you let go of what is behind, you can’t lay hold of what is ahead.

Beloved, if you are interested in your prayer being answered, forgive.

Remember this: Until you let go of what is behind, you can’t lay hold of what is ahead.

ASSIGNMENT (S):

  1. Ask God for the grace to forgive anyone who offended you, except the devil.
  2. Refuse to live in bitterness; release anyone you are holding at heart.
