SCRIPTURE: And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. Genesis 3:6

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Following the desires, passion and leadership of the flesh will make a person step out of character.

MESSAGE:

Welcome to the month of July, the first month of the second half of the year 2025! This month, you will experience an unusual shift in spiritual authority that will cause you to triumph in every battle or challenge surrounding your life and destiny, in Jesus’ Name.

One of the vital keys to shifting in spiritual authority and taking charge of domains and territories is the maintenance of godly character (Proverbs 28:1).

We live in a generation that is plagued with moral decadence and character challenges. So, to maintain a godly character, one needs to know the root of character challenge and how to deal with it.

It has been confirmed that the root of character challenge is traceable to the fall of man in the Garden of Eden. Character problems manifesting as iniquity of different types are rooted in the calamity of the Garden of Eden. So, today, we will be looking at a few things from the fall of man that are tied to the challenge of character.

1. Now, what is the root of character challenge?

Following the desires, passion and leadership of the flesh.
Following the desires, passion and leadership of the flesh will make a person fall out of character.

Genesis 3:6 says, And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

You see what that scripture says? It started with the decision to gratify the cravings of the senses. For instance, your eyes want that car, but you don’t have the money to buy it, yet you want to have it at all costs. Your body wants this or that and you want to do anything possible to get it. The decision to gratify the cravings of the flesh will lead a person into character failure. Following uncontrolled desires and unbridled passion will make a person fall out of character. The alcoholic that is drinking himself to stupor, the cocaine addict, the cigarette smoker, the prostitute, or the womanizer that has lost control over his desire will fall out of character.

2. The loss of the Presence of God.

When man fell in the Garden of Eden, God drove them out of the Garden, out of His Holy Presence (Genesis 3:24). And distance from God equals disaster of character. When people move away from the Presence of God, they begin to manifest disastrous character. Distance from God brings out the worst of man. In Matthew 26:58-59, we see that Peter denied the Master, Jesus Christ when he began to follow from a distance. So, when you follow God from a distance, you will begin to deny that you know Him. You will begin to deny that you know God through your character or lifestyle.

Beloved, if you desire to maintain godly character, camp with God and refuse to follow the desires, passion and leadership of the flesh.

Remember this: Following the desires, passion and leadership of the flesh will make a person step out of character.

ASSIGNMENT (S):

  1. Refuse to follow the leading of the flesh.
  2. Take out at least a day in a week for prayer and fasting.
  3. Refuse to keep the company of those who are carnally minded.

PRAYER: Lord, deliver me from the leading of the flesh. Let my will dissolve into Your Will and help me to hear and obey the leading of the Holy Spirit, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
