Seeds Of Destiny Devotional – The Motive Behind Actions

Topic: The Motive Behind Actions [17th July 2018 Daily Devotional]

Scripture: Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31

Thought For The Day: The motive behind what you do affects your relationship with God and determines where you will end in life and in eternity.

Often times, it is important to assess our lives to be sure we are on track with God. This is because the state of our lives determines our audience with God. The truth is without holiness no man shall see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).

So, how do you know if you are on the right path of life and on track with God?
The motive behind your actions is a major factor!
In order to know whether you are doing well in your relationship with God, ask yourself questions like, what is my motive in what I am doing? What is the driving force behind what I do? What kind of people do I relate with? What is the motive behind the way I dress? What motivates me? Am I driven by the craving to be like others? Am I driven by consensus or by conviction? Etc.

Being driven by consensus means you do things because everyone else is doing them while being driven by conviction means you act based on strong conviction.

It is important to know that with God, actions are weighed (1 Samuel 2:3). God is more concerned about the motive behind your action than the action itself. People may see perfection in what someone does but God may see faulty intentions or motives behind the action. Man looks on the outward but God looks on the inward (1 Samuel 16:7).

Beloved, my counsel is, let the motive behind your action be always pure because the motive behind what you do affects your relationship with God and determines where you will end in life and in eternity.

Remember this: The motive behind what you do affects your relationship with God and determines where you will end in life and in eternity.

Assignments:
1. Endeavour to have the right and God-glorifying motive behind your actions.
2. Exist with a pure motive in your dealings with God and people.

Prayer: O Lord, I ask for the grace to have a pure conscience always before You and people. Let my motive behind every action be correct O! Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
