TOPIC: Upholding A Godly Character (Seeds Of Destiny 2 December 2025)
SCRIPTURE: Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. – Matthew 5:16.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: When you stand for God, He stands by you.
MESSAGE
It is worthy of note that godly character is a secret of unstoppable enlargement; it is also a secret of ending with God in eternity.
It is crucial to uphold godly character because we live in times where the fear of God has rapidly disappeared.
There is a generational bankruptcy of the fear of God. We live in times of massive apostasy. So, if you are not careful, you can be swept away. Apostasy means a falling away, a great backsliding where fire brand Christians become water brands. It is a time where many have been caught in the web of sinfulness, worldliness and ungodliness.
Now, what do you do to uphold Godly character in times like this? What do we do to defend the faith where the signs of the end time are very clear and notable?
In our study today, we shall be looking at one of the things to do to uphold godly character, and that is Maintaining an unhidden Christian identity.
It is easy to uphold your godly character, when your identity as a Christian is not hidden. If you want to survive the days we live in, make yourself known as someone who belong to God (Matthew 5:13-14).
What are the things that maintaining an unhidden Christian identity can do for you?
- Deliverance from unnecessary temptations. When you maintain an unhidden Christian identity, it delivers you from unnecessary temptations. Someone would look at a known fire brand Christian and say, “Don’t go near that man, he doesn’t collect bribe.”
“Don’t go near that girl, she is a no nonsense girl; she won’t compromise.”
There are people who invite temptations by the way they look, talk or behave. When people say, “My boss is troubling me”, many times they are the ones troubling the boss by their seductive appearance and body language.
- Deliverance from the wrong company. When you are a wrong person, you attract the wrong people into your life. When you appear like a jezebel, other jezebels would begin to look for you and company with you. The truth is that light and darkness cannot co-exist.
- When you have an unhidden Christian identity, you attract Divine favour and backing. When you stand for God, He stands by you (Mark 16:20). For example, Daniel was a man of unusual positive integrity, and God stood by him. In your office, if you can stand for God, God will stand by you (Daniel 1:8, 9).
- Unhidden Christian identity enhances commitment to godly character. When you decide to make who you are known to your world, it compels you to do the right thing.
Beloved, don’t hide your identity as a believer and follower of Jesus Christ if you want to easily uphold a godly character.
Remember this: When you stand for God, He stands by you.
ASSIGNMENT(S):
- Refuse to hide your identity anywhere you go.
- Disconnect yourself from those who are ready to compromise to have what they want.
- Ask God for the grace to overcome temptations.
PRAYER: Lord, I ask for a baptism of the fear of God. My life is forever Yours Lord. I will continue to let the world know that You are my Lord and Saviour, Lord, in Jesus’ Name.
