Topic: Standing Out In The Crowd [Tuesday January 23rd, 2018]
Scripture: …Joseph brought unto his father their evil report. Genesis 37:2.
Thought For The Day: It is Divine wisdom to always stand against evil even if you have to stand alone.
Previously, we noted that Joseph, the son of Jacob and a key character in Scripture lived a life worthy of emulation. He walked with God and operated in Divine wisdom. The Bible said that the Presence of God was always with Him (Genesis 39:2-3, 21). The Presence of God accompanied with the wisdom of God imparted him with an unusual dimension of wisdom.
Therefore, there are pearls of wisdom that can be gathered from the life of Joseph.
Now, the first wisdom key to learn from the life of Joseph is, always take a stand against evil even if you have to stand alone.
This means, make up your mind to stand against evil by maintaining righteousness even if you are the only one who insists on doing the right thing. This was what Joseph did. It is Divine wisdom to always stand against evil even if you have to stand alone.
We understand from our passage that Joseph stood out from his brothers consistently. He was not involved in their evil conducts. As a result of his stand for righteousness, he took the evil report of his brothers to his father. He must have confronted them in their acts of unrighteousness but when they refused to change their evil way of behaviour, he told his father to rebuke them for a change of behaviour.
Joseph deliberately took a stand against evil by refusing to participate in the evil behaviours of his brothers. So, when a person makes up his mind to take a stand against evil, he stands alone in righteousness and stands tall in the crowd.
Beloved, endeavour to stand out from the crowd by standing on the grounds of righteousness.
Remember This: It is Divine wisdom to always stand against evil even if you have to stand alone.
