Wisdom For The Day Devotional 14 March 2023 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo: Blessed To Be A Blessing
TOPIC: Blessed To Be A Blessing (TREM Devotional 14 March 2023)
“Take advantage of every opportunity to be a blessing to others, especially to our brothers and sisters in the family of faith!” Galatians 6:10 (TPT)
MESSAGE:
A common phrase among believers is, I will not do XYZ again because a brother or sister I helped took advantage of it. Yes, some people have indeed behaved badly; but that is not enough for you to block your own channel of blessing.
Look at our scripture today. “Take advantage of EVERY OPPORTUNITY TO BE A BLESSING …” Why will God ensure that is documented in the Bible? It is because He knows that we have the tendency to refuse to help people because of certain bad experiences. Is it okay to behave badly? No. Should I take advantage of my brother or sister? No. However, these things happen in Church because, as I say, the church is a laundry. People at different levels that walk with God, come to church. The probability is there, that some people will misbehave. But that should not stop you from being a blessing.
When that happens, what should you do? Talk to your Pastor about it. The person may need help and with proper guidance and counselling, he or she may repent and make amends. But that is the much you can do for the person. But for yourself, you go a step further and review the process and put systems in place to mitigate further occurrences. How? Learn to document your transactions with other people. Yes, the person is a believer, but still documents it. Secondly, talk to your Pastor about it. Let him know what you are about to do. Thirdly, if it is for a project, monitor it by checking on the person. If it is for a business, review the documents of the business before investing. Carry out the due diligence, this way, you will reduce the losses to near zero.
If you are that person looking for who to take advantage of, I beseech you today to stop because what you sow, you will reap.
God has blessed you and planted you in church for a purpose; don’t deny yourself the blessing of helping others because you are blessed to be a blessing.
