TREM Devotional – Defeat Is Not Your Heritage

Wisdom For The Day Devotional 10 May 2025 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Defeat Is Not Your Heritage

TOPIC: Defeat Is Not Your Heritage (TREM Devotional 10 May 2025)

“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth. My soul shall make her boast in the Lord; the humble shall hear thereof and be glad. O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he heard me and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles.” (Psalm 34:1-6 KJV)

MESSAGE:

David was in trouble when he wrote Psalms 34. He was confronted with all kinds of troubles. However, in spite of them, his testimony was that the Lord “saved Him out of all his troubles”. This same God will deliver you from every evil confronting you, because of what Christ has done.

We live in a world inundated with fear, terror and sudden mishaps. Things, rather unexpected, can happen and they do happen, against our will and desires. Negative things happen, which might leave you displaced or confounded. This is the world we live in – a fallen world. As the world spirals downwards, satanic activities, wickedness, and evil will increase globally. It is hardly possible to turn anywhere without hearing about it: news media platforms are primary dispensers. Regrettably for some of us, despite being God’s people, we have allowed ourselves to be overrun by these happenings, against God’s plan and intention.

Paul writing in Romans 8:22-23 said: “For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.” (NLT).

Beloved, whilst we are in the flesh and await the manifestation of this blessed hope, it is important to always remember that we are not of the world, and therefore, cannot be defeated by the world’s systems. Fear not. There is nothing the devil brings against you that can defeat you. Defeat is not your heritage; Jesus obtained total victory for you at the Cross (Colossians 2:15). Therefore, never settle for defeat in any area of your life. Head or tail, you win!
