Wisdom For The Day Devotional 18 March 2024 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Don’t Live In Sin

TOPIC: Don’t Live In Sin (TREM Devotional 18 March 2024)

“And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years. And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: …” – Judges 6:1-6

MESSAGE:

According to the scriptures, Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites. The enemy came against God’s people, attacked them, and plundered their harvests and resources. These were covenant people. These were children of God that God had made a promise to.

What was the reason for the attack? God brought them out of Egypt and began to bless them. They were expected to continue to serve God, but they decided to serve other gods. They chose to live in sin. And their sins brought untold hardship to them as a people.

You see, that’s what sin does. When you allow sin in your life, then you allow the devastating effect of the devil against you. If you choose to live in sin, the enemies will come against your life. If you choose to live in sin, the devil will frustrate you. Your efforts will amount to nothing. You will be disappointed. You will be embarrassed. You will be ridiculed. And you will encounter shame.

God’s people were disobedient, and they opened the door for the enemy to oppress them and put them in bondage. Don’t live in sin! There are people who go to church every day, but they are living in sin. How can you desire God to intervene in the affairs of your life, and you are living in disobedience? What you are doing is that you are giving the devil ammunition to use against you.

Check out what the Bible says in the book of Psalm 107:17: “Fools, because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted.” (NKJV). The reason they are afflicted is that they have turned into fools. Those who reject what God has said concerning them are fools. They are living a life of error which is contrary to the will of God.

Beloved, the time to repent and accept God’s forgiveness is now.
