TREM Devotional 6 February 2022 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Focus On The Mercy Of God
TOPIC: Focus On The Mercy Of God
“An horse is a vain thing for safety: neither shall he deliver any by his great strength. Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy” Psalms 33:17-18 (KJV)
The saints of old understood the power of Mercy. When you check the scriptures, you will notice that each time God’s people wanted to do something mighty, they will sing praises to the Lord. Usually, they sang this song: “For he is good; for His mercy endureth forever…”(2 Chronicles 5:13 KJV). Why that song? I have always asked myself because each time they sang it something changed. Each time they sang it, something exploded in the realm of the spirit.
When the Ark of the Lord was brought into the Temple by King Solomon, they sang the song, “… then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD;” (2 Chronicles 5:13). The glory of God took over as the people of God focused on His Mercy.
During the dedication of Solomon’s Temple, the fire of God came down from heaven and the glory of the Lord took over. And the people of God sang the same song. “And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the LORD upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth forever.” (2 Chronicles 7:3 KJV)
According to the account in the book of 2 Chronicles 20, when Jehoshaphat was trapped, they sang the same song. And the Lord arose and fought on their behalf. “And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.” (2 Chronicles 20:22 KJV)
Every time believers leverage on God’s Mercy, incredible things take place. Hopeless situations are turned around.
