TREM Devotional 6 March 2022 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – God Does Not Remember Your Sins
TOPIC: God Does Not Remember Your Sins
“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” Hebrews 8:12 (KJV)
The worst thing that can happen to you is for God to remember your sins. That is the real bad news because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). This is non-negotiable. Sin has wages for everyone who is living in sin. There is however the good news for you and that is God remembers ours sins No More. The No More carries with a suggestion of double negative. In other words, God will by no means ever remember our sins.
Hebrew 8:12 in The Passion Translation says ‘’For I will demonstrate My mercy to them and will forgive their evil deeds and NEVER remember again their sins” (Emphasis mine). Never Again will He remember our Sins. Why? It is because over 2000 years ago He remembered all our lifetime of sins at the cross. Every Sin which we have committed or will commit has been punished to the full in the body of Jesus at the cross. That is why I say that all our sins: past, present, and future have been nailed to the cross and we are forgiven. Not only have we been forgiven, but we also live in His love. This should excite you and make you fall in love with Him all over again.
But does that make you go all out and Sin? Absolutely No, if you understand His love that was demonstrated on that cross, you will never want to sin, not because you are afraid of His punishment but because you love and appreciate His sacrifice.
When you fall into Sin God wants you to look to the cross where that sin you committed was judged and His love demonstrated to you by such a huge sacrifice and thank Him for His righteousness.
Hebrew 10:12-14 “But the Man (Jesus) after He had offered one sacrifice for Sins FOREVER sat down at the right hand of God by one sacrifice, He has perfected Forever… Stop thinking Sin, Think Righteousness.
