Topic: God Gave His Only Son [29 July 2018]
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. John 3:16 (KJV)
The scripture doesn’t say for God so loved the church but for God so loved the world that He gave the world His only begotten Son. He has given to the world His Son. God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself not imputing onto them their trespasses. To the robber out there, the Lord is not calling him a robber rather He is saying son come back home I have paid for your robbery. To that prostitute out there, He is not calling her a prostitute; He is saying I see you as a holy person. All you need to do is to see it.
You know what makes the gospel so sweet? You are not called to go and tell people what you did. You are called to go and tell people what Jesus did. When we go out to preach we are told to tell them what Jesus did for them. That is the gospel! You are not called to go and start laying their sins on their head. You are called to tell them what Jesus did for them on the cross. That is why Paul will always say to the Corinthian church- a church where people were taking other people’s wives; “Know ye not that you are the Temple of God?” That’s the way he rebuked them. In other words, he said I know your problem: you have forgotten who you are. That’s why you are taking other people’s wives, but let me tell you who you are. You are the temple of God! When you know who you are by redemption, it will affect the way you live your life.
Knowing your identity in Christ will help you live the new life and enjoy the experience. Your duty as a believer is to let others know what Jesus did for them. That is the gospel. That is the good news.
