Wisdom For The Day Devotional 24 February 2024 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Refuse To Bow To Pressure
TOPIC: Refuse To Bow To Pressure (TREM Devotional 24 February 2024)
“And it came to pass, as she spake to Joseph day by day, that he hearkened not unto her, to lie by her, or to be with her.” Genesis 39:10 (KJV)
MESSAGE:
A lot of Christians shoot themselves in the foot because of instant gratification. Many have aborted a lifetime blessing because of a fleeting moment of pleasure. Be careful of the things you say yes to.
Potiphar’s wife came to Joseph and said to him: sleep with me. But Joseph refused! He said to her: “…Look, my master does not know what is with me in the house, and he has committed all that he has to my hand. There is no one greater in this house than I, nor has he kept back anything from me but you because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” (Genesis 39:8-9 NKJV)
Joseph’s relationship with God translated into his response. How can I do this great wickedness against God? He placed a high premium on his relationship with God. Joseph stood his ground and refused to bow to the pressure mounted upon him daily by Potiphar’s wife.
“But it happened about this time, when Joseph went into the house to do his work, and none of the men of the house was inside, that she caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me.” But he left his garment in her hand, and fled and ran outside.” (Genesis 39:11-12 NKJV)
Joseph ran out! He preferred to be misconstrued and falsely accused. He refused to sleep with his master’s wife because it was wickedness against God. In other words, if I escape before men, I can’t escape before God. So, I will not do it. So, he left his garment in her hands and fled. Joseph added value to Potiphar. But he refused to bow to pressure to do the wrong thing.
In our nation today, there is so much pressure on you all over the place to do the wrong thing. Don’t succumb to that pressure. It is better to suffer than to violate your relationship with God.

DAILY CONFESSION
God is on my side. He has given unto me all things that pertain unto life and godliness; therefore, I am a partaker of His divine nature. I have entered my season of rejoicing. It is for me a time of joy and celebration. Nothing shall cut it short. I am like an olive tree and my children surround my table. Together we sing for joy. The entrance of Your word gives me light and understanding. Order my steps in your word. (2 Peter 1:3, Psalm 128:3, Ps 119:130,)
The Lord will not allow iniquity have dominion over me: I shall be upright, and I shall be innocent from the great transgression. Though my beginning was small, my latter end shall greatly increase. (Ps 19:13, Job 8:7)
Every day and in every way I am getting better: spiritually, physically, financially, mentally, morally, and in all my endeavours.
I am called for a purpose; I will fulfill this purpose and I will arrive at God’s ordained destiny for my life. Nothing will cut me short. I will make a formidable impact in my world for the Kingdom. Therefore, I declare that I am a person of integrity, I am spiritually fervent, and I am accountable in all I do because I’ve been raised to live the Kingdom Life here on earth.
It is my day of Great and Mighty Things!
