Topic: There Is Power In Hearing The Word Of God [Thursday July 5, 2018]
“This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?” Galatians 3:2
In the book of Galatians chapter 3, verse 1; Paul was sort of frustrated with the Galatian Church that he asked: “Who hath bewitched you?” In verse 2 of the same chapter, Paul asked: “Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law or by the hearing of faith?”. The people suddenly were trying to go back to self-effort and performance and Paul says that is foolishness. Why do you think that Jesus died? All you need to do is to receive what grace has supplied. Who is bewitching you that you think that what you do is what will make God do for you? God has already done it for you because He is good. He is not doing for you because you are good.
In verse 5, Paul asks again: “He therefore that ministers to you the Spirit and works miracles among you, does he do it by the works of the law or by the hearing of faith?” In other words, is it by your effort? Is it not because you heard what Christ did and you believed that something happened? How dare you go back to self-effort? You were told, you are blessed and you believed it. You stood in faith and you refused to believe every contrary thing. And because you believed, you were blessed.
You believed that you were healed by His stripes and that even if there is a damaged organ in your body, God has spare parts and can change it. You believed it and healing took place. You received it by the hearing of faith. You heard that God will speak on your behalf in high places, and it produced a Rhema in you to take an action. Then God began to orchestrate things and moved on your behalf in high places and positioned people to speak on your behalf. Now you say that you will work it out? Beloved, we are believers and we only believe when we hear. Therefore, keep hearing and as you hear, keep believing. There is power in hearing the Word of God.
