TREM Devotional 10 March 2022 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Understanding Is Critical
TOPIC: Understanding Is Critical
“When anyone heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.” Matthew 13:19 (KJV)
The devil does not care about how regular you are in church and how many bible translations you have as long as you lack understanding. Understanding is very critical in our walk with God.
In the parable of the Sower, the first person was described as someone without understanding. Before the word can penetrate your heart, you must comprehend what it is saying to you as an individual. You must appropriate and own it. Don’t sit down saying “tell them”; no, receive the word and apply it to your life. The word comes to you to make you better and it can only achieve this if you receive it with all your heart.
If you do not receive the word, what happens? Rather than it finding root in your life to produce, it will be scattered on the surface and then the birds of the air will eat it up and it will not produce. May the bird not eat up your seed in Jesus’ name. The birds here, represent Satan, and he comes immediately the word is sown, to steal the word Mark 4:15, Luke 8:12. That is his job, to steal, kill and destroy. So, when he steals, he is doing what is natural to himself.
However, you will notice that Satan had no direct access to other heart conditions, this shows that Satan cannot steal the word hidden in our hearts. Psalm 119:11. You hide the word of God in your heart by understanding and receiving the word. Your salvation is very directly connected to your understanding of God’s word. Romans. 10:14-17.
If there is no word, there cannot be any belief or Salvation 1 Peter 1:23. The word Salvation is robust and not limited to being born again, when the word is not received it will cost you deliverance, healing, prosperity or victory in all areas already provided for you in Christ. Let the word and the word alone direct your life to experience victory.
