Wisdom For The Day Devotional 10 June 2024 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – You Are In Charge Of The Earth
TOPIC: You Are In Charge Of The Earth (TREM Devotional 10 June 2024)
“The heaven, even the heavens, are the Lord’s: But the earth hath he given to the children of men.” Psalm 115:16 (KJV)
MESSAGE:
God made the heaven of heavens for Himself, and the earth had He given to the children of men. In other words, God says I am in charge in heaven, but I am going to make a place called earth, and I will give it to man and put him in charge. So, whenever God wants to do something here on earth, He will always send a man. This is because of the way He has set things and has made this earth a material world.
In Genesis 1:26-28, after God had put everything in place, He said: “…Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion… So God created man in His own image … male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion…” (KJV).
Since man was made in the image of God, which means that man is a spirit, just like God is a Spirit. However, man was packaged in such a way that will enable him to function in the material world. God took the dust of the earth and formed man, giving man his material body. God then breathed upon him, and the scripture says man became a living soul.
So, man cannot go to the earth unless he has a physical body. The earth was created as a material realm and the heaven for spiritual things; therefore, man wasn’t put on earth with a spiritual body. You must have a material body; otherwise, you cannot function effectively on earth. So, God gave the man an earthly suit that will be suitable for him to function here. That is why God gave man a body. Your body is your suit. It is not you. That is why the moment the spirit departs the body, it dies. Man is a spirit; he has a soul and lives inside a body.
