Topic: When The Priest Stands Firm

Read: Joshua 3:17

Judges 3:17 And he brought the present unto Eglon king of Moab: and Eglon was a very fat man.

MEMORISE:
Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labour is not in vain in the Lord (1 Corinthians 15:58)

EXPOSITION
The head is very important as part of the body for it comprises major senses that control the body – eye, ear, nose, mouth, brain, etc. That is why an ache in the head is an ache in the general body. Coming to national, community, or church issues, we must also know that the one at the helm of affairs is germane to the success, or otherwise of that establishment.

In our text for today, we see the Priest bearing the Ark of the Covenant standing firm in the water until the whole people had passed. Priests are shepherds of the flock and anyone who will lead God’s people must do so with all his power and total obedience to God’s law. As leaders, so are the followers. No wonder, Paul told his followers to imitate him as he also imitated Christ. To lead the people of God to their God-given Promised Land, leaders must stand firm, immovable in the midst of opposition, sufferings and persecutions.

Leaders ought to be vigilant and sensitive to the wiles of the Devil, else they are carried away and the people become preys to the enemy. As leaders of denominations, groups and departments in the church and government offices, we must stand on the side of the truth, justice and equity. Let your yes be yes and your no, no. Christians must also remain unwavering in the face of persecution; standing right and strong with God until we all shall appear at the right side of God in His throne. The power to stand up for Jesus to the end, receive in Jesus’ name.

Remember, God has always sought for one man to be used for situations and battles He had won. The man in humility, obedience, faith, sensitivity would only go out there to represent Him and present Him to His people. Are you ready?

PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, help me to always stand on the side of justice no matter the pain involved.
2. Oh Lord, help fathers in the house to be responsible to their wives and children in all ways.
3. Father, help leaders of churches and groups to be so responsible to their members and stop milking/pampering them.

EXTRA READING FOR TODAY: Psalms 140 – 144
