DCLM Daily Manna 23 June 2024 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — In The Lord’s House

TOPIC: In The Lord’s House (DCLM Daily Manna 23 June 2024)

KEY VERSE: “Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God” (Psalm 92:13).

TEXT: Psalm 92:1-15 (KJV)

1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High:

2 To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night,

3 Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound.

4 For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands.

5 O Lord, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep.

6 A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.

7 When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever:

8 But thou, Lord, art most high for evermore.

9 For, lo, thine enemies, O Lord, for, lo, thine enemies shall perish; all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.

10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

11 Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.

12 The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

13 Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.

14 They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing;

15 To shew that the Lord is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

MESSAGE:

An anonymous author once wrote, “The house of the Lord is a holy place, but also a home of comfort and prosperity. The poor are made rich; the sick are made whole; the hungry are fed to the fill, and the weak are made strong. Those who live in God’s presence have no need of what the world scampers for because they have them in abundance”.

One common thing among God’s righteous people is the huge reasons for praise. God must be glorified at all times and in all places, irrespective of mood. The godly habit of praising God, the beautiful gift of eloquence and expression before Him, which reveals David’s deep inner life with the Lord, qualifies him as the sweet psalmist of Israel. It is worth noting that today’s passage paints a picture of the house of the Lord where praises, thanksgiving and honour are given unto the Lord for His faithfulness and loving kindness.

While the psalmist basks in the joy of the privilege to praise, worship and adore God, sinners, referred to as the wicked and the brutish, languish in ignorance and are faced with the prospect of eternal damnation if they do not turn away from their wickedness. The reasons to praise God are too numerous to mention. The psalmist in our text enumerates some of them. These include the greatness of God’s works, the profoundness of His wisdom and counsel from which these works issue; the outworking of His preferential providence towards the righteous and the unrighteous; the flourishing and bountifulness that characterize the life and destiny of the righteous.

Daily, we should recognise God’s power and majesty and use every godly means to praise and magnify Him wholeheartedly, with total submission to His word.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
A heart tuned to God is tuned for praises.
