DCLM Daily Manna – Real Conversion

Topic: Real Conversion [Tuesday July 3, 2018]

Text: Mark 10:13-16 (KJV)

Key Verse: “Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein” (Mark 10:15).

MESSAGE:

Children are the greatest gift to parents. When they are young, they offer the best company. Their laughter is contagious; their questions are sincere; their trust is absolute and they often tell the truth. Also, they do not have evil intentions or keep list of offenders.

Children were brought to Jesus, as He taught in the coasts of Judea around Jordan, by their mothers who joined the crowd. But His disciples rebuked the women. Perhaps, they thought Jesus was too busy to be disturbed by little children. But He rebuked them and asked them to allow the children to come to Him. He further revealed that conversion is incomplete until one possesses the humility and simplicity of children.

What special characteristics in children are highlighted in our text as evidence of conversion? The children brought to Christ were described as ‘little children’ in their state of sincere innocence who hadn’t reached the age of accountability. They do not have ulterior motive and diplomacy of adults.

No wonder the Scripture reveals that of such is the kingdom of God. This implies that making it to heaven requires the innocence and simplicity of children. You must repent of all your sins, ask the Lord to pardon you of all the wrongs you have committed and believe in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross to atone for your sins before you can have this real conversion characterised by childlikeness.

Thought For The Day: The nature of children is the vibrant element of a true Christian.
