DCLM Daily Manna – Wrong Perception

DCLM Daily Manna

DCLM Daily Manna 10 July 2021 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — Wrong Perception

TOPIC: Wrong Perception

TEXT: Job 4:1-11

1 Then Eliphaz the Temanite answered and said,

2 If we assay to commune with thee, wilt thou be grieved? but who can withhold himself from speaking?

3 Behold, thou hast instructed many, and thou hast strengthened the weak hands.

4 Thy words have upholden him that was falling, and thou hast strengthened the feeble knees.

5 But now it is come upon thee, and thou faintest; it toucheth thee, and thou art troubled.

6 Is not this thy fear, thy confidence, thy hope, and the uprightness of thy ways?

7 Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?

8 Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.

9 By the blast of God they perish, and by the breath of his nostrils are they consumed.

10 The roaring of the lion, and the voice of the fierce lion, and the teeth of the young lions, are broken.

11 The old lion perisheth for lack of prey, and the stout lion’s whelps are scattered abroad.

KEY VERSE: “Remember, I pray thee, who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off? Even as I have seen, they that plow iniquity, and sow wickedness, reap the same.” – (Job 4:7,8).

MESSAGE:

The cry of every Christian to the Lord in this end-time ought to that heaven should fill our mouths with gracious words of comfort and consolation that will strengthen the faith of a fellow believer who is passing through trial, persecution or challenge.

In our text, Eliphaz, a friend of Job, having listened to his complaints in the previous chapter, could no more restrain himself but now alleged that Job might not be as righteous as he claimed. Eliphaz affirms that true religion is characterised by peace and comfort. In other words, to be righteous is to live a life void of challenges. This assertion contradicts the wholesome teaching of the Bible which talks of days of joy and gladness mixed with chastisement and persecution on earth.

Instead of encouraging and strengthening Job’s faith, he said wrongly that Job was not righteous and that his suffering must be as a result of sin. He asked a rhetorical question:“who ever perished, being innocent? or where were the righteous cut off?” This was to portray Job as a person suffering because of sin. How often do men misjudge us!

As a Christian, do not judge others, especially fellow believers who are passing through hard times so that you shall not be judged. Are you being rejected or judged wrongly like Job as a result of a wrong perception? God’s verdict about us is more important than men’s opinion, praise or condemnation. Keep on believing and be determined like Job who said, “my righteousness I hold fast and will not let it go, my heart shall not reproach me as long as I live” (Job 27:6).

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
God’s verdict concerning you supersedes your accusers’.

THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
2 Kings 20-21
