DCLM Daily Manna 28 June 2023 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — You Can Rise Again!

TOPIC: You Can Rise Again! (DCLM Daily Manna 28 June 2023)

KEY VERSE: “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me” (Micah 7:8).

TEXT: Micah 7:8-13 (KJV)

8 Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me.

9 I will bear the indignation of the Lord, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness.

10 Then she that is mine enemy shall see it, and shame shall cover her which said unto me, Where is the Lord thy God? mine eyes shall behold her: now shall she be trodden down as the mire of the streets.

11 In the day that thy walls are to be built, in that day shall the decree be far removed.

12 In that day also he shall come even to thee from Assyria, and from the fortified cities, and from the fortress even to the river, and from sea to sea, and from mountain to mountain.

13 Notwithstanding the land shall be desolate because of them that dwell therein, for the fruit of their doings.

MESSAGE:

The famous American inventor and businessman, Thomas Edison, observed that “People are not remembered by how few times they failed, but by how often they succeed. Every wrong step can be another step forward”.

Micah’s prophecy centred on Israel’s captivity and affliction occasioned by their sin. The captive Israelites are here portrayed as exulting in their hope of deliverance by God. They realised their disobedience to God attracted the calamities that befell them. They were willing to patiently bear God’s chastisement and to break off from the works of darkness that brought it upon them. However, beyond their fall, they hoped to rise again. Though wrapped in darkness of sin, they hoped to bask in God’s light again. Therefore, they charged their enemies not to rejoice against them.

Nothing gives as much delight to the enemies of the Church of God than to see believers in a fallen state. Typical unbelieving folks mock whenever they find a professing Christian fall from grace. Satan, the accuser of the brethren, celebrates the downfall of a child of God and will do everything possible to keep him in that state. Unfortunately, some carnal believers easily write off those who have fallen or even deride them as if they can never rise again.

Have you fallen? You can rise again. Are you suffering today because of your backsliding or indiscretion in sinning against God? Have you lost sweet fellowship with the Lord and joy or peace because of a particular act of disobedience? There is hope of complete restoration for the fallen and wounded who sincerely and penitently returns to the Lord.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Putting a broken life together again is no challenge to the Almighty.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
1 Kings 17-18
