Topic: Deception [Friday April 7, 2017]
“And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.” (Luke 15:12)
The prodigal son woke up one morning and decided he couldn’t wait until the death of his father to get his inheritance. So, he asked his father to give him his own right there and then. He got it, went away to a far country, squandered everything, and then came to himself. He was under the influence of the spirit of deception.
Why was Lot against their tradition bold enough to choose before Abraham? He thought life was all about what he could see in the immediate. The spirit of deception was at work. An old maxim says, “Not all that glitters is gold.”
Many marriages have broken up as a result of this spirit. If all you can see is how bad your spouse is, the influence of the spirit of deception will magnify everything until you take the wrong decision. If the only thing you can see in the man that wants to marry you is that he has a broken front tooth, and not his kind, benevolent, gentle, and God fearing side, then you will resent and frustrate him until he gives up on trying to marry you.
Many people have taken wrong decisions because of the influence of the serpentine spirit from the pit of hell. Is it not amazing that people know that sin will take them to hell but still commit it?
When the spirit of deception is operating, people repay the good done them with evil, and by so doing, stop further good from coming to them. What you don’t appreciate, you cannot get by faith. Today, the Holy Ghost will help you make only right decisions.
Words of Wisdom: Not all that glitters is gold.
Confession/Prayer: Father, give me the spirit of discernment to recognise deceit and to choose to do right things only.
