God Must Know You As One Of His ~ Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

Topic: God Must Know You As One Of His [Friday May 19, 2017]

“Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst” (Isaiah 5:13).

My people.! Those two words appear together no fewer than a hundred and twenty times in the Bible. When God used the words My people, the clear implication is that some people are not His. Although God created all people, not all people are God’s people.

“And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God” (Hosea 2:23).

That was God speaking through the Prophet Hosea. He said there are people who are not His. Even in the church, there are people who are not His. Yes, right in the church you can find people who steal, and others who kill, not by the barrel of a gun, but with their mouths. Still, there are others who lie about anything and everything – the simple truth cannot just be found in their mouth. Unfortunately, this has become their second nature.

The fact that you attend a church doesn’t mean you are one of God’s people:

“This people draweth nigh unto Me with their mouth, and honoureth Me with their lips; but their heart is far from Me.” (Matt. 15:8)

Sometimes, there are criminals well positioned in the church. A pastor friend of mine in America told me some time ago of a seemingly devoted chorister in his church who was sexually abusing his eight-year-old daughter.

Let those who mention the name of the Lord depart from iniquity. If God doesn’t know you, He cannot help you.

Word of Wisdom: I have the power to change the seemingly impossible.

Prayer/Confession: Lord, make me your true son. I want to worship you with my lips and actions.
