The Outworking Of The Word In You ~ Pastor Chris Oyakilome

pastor-chris-oyakhilome

Topic: The Outworking Of The Word In You [Wednesday, November 30th]

To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God (Ephesians 3:10).

Do you know there’s something about us, the new creation, that the angels can’t get over? The angels are glorious and wonderful beings. They’re excellent in glory and mighty in power, but they’re amazed at what God has done with us, in us, and for us, because as glorious as they are, God doesn’t live in them, and as “unworthy” as we were, He gave us a new life and made us His living tabernacles. That remains a mystery to the angels; they don’t understand it. And guess what? God chose us to explain it to them.

The Church is to make the manifold wisdom of God known to them. That’s why each time we preach about Jesus, and about the Holy Ghost, the angels love to listen. They enjoy it; they want to know more about the salvation that Jesus brought to man, because it’s something that they only know from the scriptures. They don’t have an actual experience of it. They don’t know what it’s like; so, they hear it from us. That’s what the Apostle Paul alludes to in our opening verse when he says, “To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly places might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God” (Ephesians 3:10).

It is, indeed, a great privilege and honour for us as the Church of Jesus Christ to explain God’s wisdom and mysteries to the angels. Now, if that’s part of our responsibility, it means we have to know the Word. We have to live in the Word and live out the Word. In other words, you have to be the expression of the Word of God; and that’s real Christianity. It’s the expression of God’s Word; the revelation of His righteousness and His personality. We’re His epistles.

2 Corinthians 3:2 says, “Ye are our epistle written in our hearts, known and read of all men….” The epistle of Christ is the Word of Christ. The Word of Christ is the Word of God. So, we’re the epistles of Christ in flesh, which means we’re the Word of God in flesh, just like Jesus. True Christianity is the outworking of the Word in me and in you. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I thank you for your Word is my life and it makes my heart rejoice. Your commandment is pure, enlightening the soul. Your Word is more to be desired than fine gold, and it’s sweeter than honey and the honeycomb. As I meditate and yield to your Word, my life is transformed from glory to glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Study: || 2 Corinthians 3:18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, [even] as by the Spirit of the Lord. ||

|| 1 Peter 1:12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into. ||

The God That Revealeth ~ Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

baba-12

Topic: The God That Revealeth [November 30, 2016]

“But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets”. (Daniel 2:28a)

To reveal means to show. If you do not know the secret of life, you will go through life but end up with nothing. That is why God says in his word, I will show you the secret. The Bible recorded that Esau was marked for “the blessing”, but Jacob transformed himself, pretended to be Esau and took “the blessing”. Esau was still desperate to get some blessing from his father and after a long petition to his father, Isaac pronounced the following on him: “And by the sword shalt thou live, and shalt serve thy brother’ and it shall come to pass when thou shalt have the dominion that thou shalt break his yoke from off thy neck.” (Genesis 27:40).

Isaac told Esau that he will live by the sword. What it simply meant was that Esau would fight battles all the days of his life but if Esau was able to have dominion, then he would break the yoke from off his neck. In other words, Isaac said to Esau, the day you discover the secret of your brother’s strength, then, you will break his yoke from off your neck.

It was sad that Esau never discovered the secret of Jacob’s strength, which is why till today, the generation of Jacob still has dominion over the generation of Esau. Until the secret is discovered, the yoke remains unbroken.

There is a secret to your breakthrough, the moment you discover the secret, you will be free and God will reveal the secret to you.

In our text today, Daniel said, there is a God that reveals secrets. He is the all encompassing God. You must seek His face today and obtain the secret of your breakthrough from Him.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: O Lord, show me the secret that I may not miss my way in life

The Danger Of Unbelief ~ Pastor William Kumuyi

Topic: The Danger Of Unbelief [November 30, 2016]

Text: 2 Kings 7:15-20

Key Verse: “And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, if the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof. And so it fell out unto him: for the people trode upon him in the gate, and he died” (2 Kings 7:19,20).

The Moody Church News had an account of a man who was walking by the sea shore. He was greatly perplexed about the doctrine of the Trinity. He observed a little boy with a sea shell running to the water, filling it and then pouring it into a hole which he had made in the sand. “What are you doing my little man?” asked the perplexed man. “Oh”, said he, “I am trying to put the ocean into this hole!” The man learnt his lesson, and as he walked away, he said: “That is what I am trying to do. I see it now”. Standing on the shores of time, he was trying to get into his little finite mind, things which are infinite.

Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible and receives the impossible. The account in our text relays the unfortunate story of the man in whose hand the king leaned, who tried to comprehend the ability of God by his finite mind. He queried the sense in Elisah’s pronouncement on the instantaneous provision that God was about to bring upon the land of Samaria after a period of great famine. He doubted the man of God and paid dearly for his unbelief. He saw the blessing of abundance as predicted by the man of God but could not partake in it as earlier announced. He was trampled upon by a hungry but jubilant mob. Limiting God’s ability with our little understanding and finite mind will always lead to destruction. Without faith, it is impossible to please God.

Trying to figure out what He can do and what He cannot do, based on our knowledge of science will be like checkmating Him. God can do anything at anytime (Luke 1:37). The best we can do is to completely hand over our life to Him for provision and fulfillment of His promise, and allow Him to work out the details while we walk with Him in righteousness.

Thought for the day: With God, nothing shall be impossible

Mercy Or Judgment? ~ Pastor E.A Adeboye

open-heaven-2016

Topic: Mercy Or Judgment? [Wednesday 30, November 2016]

Memorise: Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. – Psalms 32:1

Read: John 8:10-11 (KJV)

10 When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee?

11 She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more.

Bible in One Year: Exodus 9:1-10:20, Psalms 112

MESSAGE:

The story of the woman caught in the act of adultery is typical of the mercy of God and it was in direct contradiction with the judgement of the old era which did not give remedy to the spiritual problem of the people. Psalms 130:3-4 says:

3 If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand? 4 But there is forgiveness with thee, that thou mayest be feared.”

This passage is a pointer to the fact that mercy is the preferred alternative to judgment. No matter how perfect you may think you are, you do not need to be asked whether you want to give consideration to judgment when there is room for mercy. However, mercy does not come on a platter of gold. The number one thing you must do to obtain mercy is to repent. Proverbs 28:13 says:

“He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

Another factor that can earn you mercy in the place of judgment is your love for God. This love you have for God will prevent you from continuing in sin against Him. Exodus 20:5-6 says:

5….for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.”

Our Lord Jesus Christ corroborates what His Father says in the scripture above when He demands love and practical demonstration of it from his followers. He said in John 14:21:

“He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.”

Beloved, if indeed, you prefer mercy to judgment, you will choose to love God. To love God requires keeping His commandments. Finally, if you want mercy in the place of judgment, you need to humble yourself before God, acknowledging the fact that you are nothing without Him.

Prayer Point: Father, please show me mercy in the place of judgment. Help me to love you with all my heart.

Get Away With God ~ Joyce Meyer

joyce-meyer

Topic: Get Away With God [November 30, 2016]

Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly. — Matthew 11:28-30 (The Message)

That sounds good, doesn’t it? I’ve had enough “heavy stuff” in my life, and I want to enjoy freedom. When you are overloaded with the cares of life you need some help. Your mind needs rest from worrying, your emotions need rest from being upset, and your will needs a rest from stubbornness and rebellion. So you need to be humble enough to call out to God and say, “I need help!” Your beginning doesn’t have to dictate your ending. Get God involved in every area of your life and allow Him to lead you into “real rest.”

The Importance Of Treating Others Well ~ Joyce Meyer

joyce-meyer

Topic: The Importance Of Treating Others Well [November 29, 2016]

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God [do not offend or vex or sadden Him], by Whom you were sealed (marked, branded as God’s own, secured) for the day of redemption . . . — Ephesians 4:30

I take a verse such as Ephesians 4:30 very seriously—I certainly do not want to “grieve the Holy Spirit” and I know you don’t either. But how do we avoid doing it?

Reading the verses surrounding verse 30 makes it clear that one thing that grieves the Holy Spirit is when people mistreat one another. Consider that:

In verse 29 we are encouraged to edify others with the words or our mouth.

Verse 31 exhorts us not to be bitter, angry, or contentious and to beware of slander, spite, and ill will.

In verse 32 we are told to be kind to one another, forgiving readily and freely.

When we realize it grieves the Holy Spirit when we are sharp or hateful with someone, or when we stay angry with someone, we will look to change.

I encourage you to ask God to help you see others the way He sees them. Ask Him to give you the kindness and patience you need to deal gently and lovingly with the people in your life, especially those who are unkind or difficult to be around. God will be pleased when He sees you have a heart attitude that wants to love and bless others.

Celebrate The Word In Your Life ~ Pastor Chris Oyakilome

pastor-chris-oyakhilome

Topic: Celebrate The Word In Your Life  [Tuesday, November 29th]

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1).

Some people don’t know how to celebrate the Word of God in their lives. When they hear the Word, to them, it’s just another sermon; so they don’t give personality and honour to the Word. They’ve never placed a premium on the Word of God. The Word should mean everything to you, because our lives are built with it; God builds Himself into us through the Word.

The greatest thing you could ever have on this earth is the Word, because everything came from it; it created the whole world: “All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made” (John 1:3). The Word of God is God. So, always be excited to give glory to, and celebrate the Word. To celebrate the Word is to celebrate Jesus, because Jesus is the living Word.

The true celebration of the Word is doing the Word; living in, and by the Word. James 1:22 says, “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.” Some have only stored the Word in their hearts, but that’s not enough. You have to act on the Word. You have to keep meditating on the Word so it’ll grow mightily in you and prevail. As you celebrate the Word, your life becomes the expression and effulgence of His wisdom, glory, and grace. Hallelujah.

PRAYER

Holy Father, I thank you for the wonderful gift of your Word. As I celebrate your Word with joy and excitement, its power is released to accomplish what it talks about in my life, making me the effulgence and expression of your praise and glory, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Study: || Jeremiah 15:16 Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts. ||

|| James 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth [therein], he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. ||

|| Psalm 19:7 The law of the LORD [is] perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD [is] sure, making wise the simple. ||

Don’t Buy A Lie ~ Kenneth Copeland

kenneth-copeland

Topic: Don’t Buy A Lie [November 29, 2016]

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God. – Deuteronomy 28:2

“Well, brother, in the end I’m sure you’ll see these financial problems are actually a blessing in disguise.” Have you ever heard anybody say that to someone who’s hurting financially? Chances are, you have. It’s a popular idea. The problem is, it’s a lie used by the devil to keep believers down.

As a result, many believers today are suffering one financial defeat after another. So let’s go to the Word of God today and get the issue of prosperity and poverty straight. Let’s find out, once and for all, which is the blessing, which the curse.

You can find the answer to that question in Deuteronomy 28. What God describes in verses 1 through 14 is the blessing—prosperity. In verses 15 through 31, God describes poverty—and He has called it a curse.

The curse is meant to destroy. Not to teach people a lesson. Not to make them more spiritual. But to destroy them.

Regardless of how intense the lack is, the nature of poverty remains the same. It is, and will always be, a curse.

Satan has gone to great lengths to convince God’s people that poverty is a blessing in disguise. But poverty is something the devil contrived!

Don’t buy into his lies. Get your thinking in line with the Word of God. If you’re a born-again child of God, you no longer have to live under the curse of poverty or any other curse for that matter. You’ve been redeemed!

For His Glory ~ Pastor William Kumuyi

kumuyi

Topic: For His Glory [November 29, 2016]

Text: Numbers 16:1-11

Key Verse: “And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?” (Numbers 16:3).

In her autobiography, My Life, Mrs. Golda Meir, Israeli Prime Minister during the Yom Kippur War in 1993 relates moving stories of the patience, bravery and sacrifices of men and women of Jewish state in the face of the aggressions of its neighbours.

She says Israel gathered from “authoritative intelligence source” that Egypt and Syria would launch an attack on her country from two fronts. Israeli Defence Forces were at their peak and primed to deliver a deadly pre-emptive strike. But Golda Meir wisely rejected the idea and went to war only after being attacked. Her restraint when provoked paid off. Israel wasn’t seen as the aggressor and this earned the nation priceless global sympathy and enormous military support from the United States which enabled her gain overwhelming victory. Israel didn’t apply her bravery and strength negatively.

Korah, the leader of the rebellion in our text isn’t so wise. His name means boldness or bravery. So he gathers co-conspirators -Dathan and Abiram along with several others – to attack Moses and Aaron, the servants of God. Believing leadership to be a carnal affair, he challenges what he sees as the domineering style of Moses. To speak out boldly-in-keeping-with his name, he reasons, would clip Moses’ wings and force him to give the rebels some personal attention and leadership roles. Little did they realise that such heady missions put people in direct confrontation with God.

When God gives us boldness, wisdom, wealth, good health, energy, authority, power, etc. He expects us to tame these attributes for Kingdom work, not for personal pursuits. When we pray for success and prosperity in family, work, career, academics and church business, we must also ask the Lord to give us the grace to manage these good attributes according to His will.

Thought for the day: Only the wise handles the “Yea and Amen” of God’s promises.

Fearless Messenger ~ Pastor E.A Adeboye

open-heaven-2016

Topic: Fearless Messenger [Tuesday 29, November 2016]

Memorise: Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD. – Jeremiah 1:8

Read: Jeremiah 1:4-10 (KJV)

4 Then the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,

5 Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations.

6 Then said I, Ah, Lord GOD! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child.

7 But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I am a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.

8 Be not afraid of their faces: for I am with thee to deliver thee, saith the LORD.

9 Then the LORD put forth his hand, and touched my mouth. And the LORD said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

10 See, I have this day set thee over the nations and over the kingdoms, to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy, and to throw down, to build, and to plant.

Bible in One Year: Exodus 6:14-8:32, Psalms 110-111

MESSAGE:

There are different ways by which God can send His word to His people. The Word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah telling him to fear not the faces of the people He was sending him to because the message He had given him would not be a pleasant message for them. Same was the account of Jonah when he was given a message to the people of Nineveh. The message of God to His children is always in various forms. It contains doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). It is always difficult for man to be confronted with his errors and wicked ways, and this was the assignment that God gave Prophet Jeremiah. How I wish there are many prophet Jeremiahs in our land, there would be more revival in our land. Prophets like Jeremiah who will call a spade a spade and not water down the Word of God because of the faces of the people. You cannot entangle yourself with the affairs of this world and still deliver the message of God without bias. There are many men of God who are afraid of the people God is sending them to. The God we serve has not given us the spirit of fear but of boldness and soundness of mind.

You have to be fearless in preaching the Word of God. You must be instant in season and out of season. We live in a time when people do not want to listen to the absolute truth of God’s Word. People are very selective about the kind of messages they listen to. Do you receive the Word with gladness each time the Word points you to the cross? 2 Timothy 4:3 says:

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;”

God wanted Jeremiah to warn the people about the punishment to come if they would not repent from their ways of wickedness. God told Jeremiah to inform those who were proud and wicked, that the rod of affliction was coming on them. The essence of this message to the people was for them to purge themselves from unrighteousness. Each time the Word of God comes to you, it is an opportunity to amend your ways before it is too late. God wants you to be a vessel unto honour, sanctified and meet for His use so that you can be prepared for every good work.

Whatever assignment God has given to you, do not be afraid. You will meet with many oppositions and enemies but you can be sure God is by your side. They may look big, but they are not bigger than the One who has sent you. God will always deliver you out of the hand of persecutors. He will not only stand by you as you deliver the Word, He will deliver you from every trouble in the course of the assignment. When God sends you a message, He also backs you with His power. They may not like your face, but you can be sure that once you have declared the counsel of God to them, at the point of judgment; you will not be responsible for their blood.

Key Point: If God be for you who can be against you?
