Focus On Him ~ Pastor Chris Oyakilome

Topic: Focus On Him [Tuesday, December 27th]

After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward (Genesis 15:1).

God desires to have your attention. He knows if He has your attention, He can lead and guide you in the destiny He’s planned for you. He knows what’s best for you, and what your life should be. There’s therefore nothing for you to worry over, except to live confidently and joyfully in His Word every day. Living in the Word will cause you to walk in the inheritance and destiny He’s ordained for you.

Focus on the Lord. Give Him your all. Delight yourself in Him, and in the fact that He lives in you. He’s everything you need. To have Him is to have everything. In Genesis 15:1, the Lord said to Abraham, “…I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward.” That means “I’m all you need; in me, you have everything!” All you need in life is Christ, for Christ is everything.

Let Him be all that your heart longs for. Let Him be all that thrills and satisfies your soul. Never allow anything distract or take your focus away from serving Him as you should. Set your attention and affection on Him and on the things He cares about. Be a soul winner. Your affection shouldn’t be on the transient things of this world: “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth” (Colossians 3:1-2).

All that you are, and all that you have, are in Him. Your greatness is in Him. He’s your reason for being; therefore, focus on Him and live for Him.

PRAYER

Dear Father, I worship and praise you for giving me insight, understanding, and the ability to set my heart and focus on you to see things only from your perspective. I serve you with all sincerity, commitment, and a wholehearted devotion, for you’re everything to me; you’re my strength, shield and exceeding great reward; I rejoice in you forever, in Jesus’ Name, Amen.

|| Acts 17:27-28 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us: 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. ||

Maturity ~ Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

image-5

Topic: Maturity [December 27, 2016]

“Then they brought the golden vessels that were taken out of the temple of the house of God which was at Jerusalem…” (Daniel 5:3)

King Nebuchadnezzar gave King Belsahazzar who was his son a divine instruction that Belsahazzar should acknowledge the supremacy of God in his reign and that he should enforce and enact its practicability by virtue of his position as King. Unfortunately, the King dishonoured God.

On that fateful day, (in the above scripture) Belsahazzar invited about a thousand lords to his domain to a great feast and he commanded that the sacred golden and silver vessels that his father took out of the temple in Jerusalem should be used as wine glasses to serve his guests. Using vessels meant for the Lord to serve unbelievers was the height of immaturity.

Immaturity, if not carefully guided can spur you to take decisions that may cause you to take actions that can in turn make you curse God in His face. We must be careful in the way we handle the things of God and obey divine instructions. Immaturity did not exonerate them from the repercussions of their sins. The reign Belsahazzar was cut short because of his acts of immaturity in handling the things of God. One of the signs of maturity is having understanding. In Daniel 4:34, King Nebuchadnezzar came to himself, which means that he had began to understand what he did. Knowledge brings understanding and understanding activates promotion.

FURTHER READING: Daniel 5:1-5, 5:22-30

WORDS OF WISDOM: You can chose your actions, but you can’t chose the consequences of your actions.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: Lord, help me to give value to anything that concerns you.

Don’t Answer ~ Kenneth Copeland

kenneth-copeland

Topic: Don’t Answer [December 27, 2016]

And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. – Romans 12:2

Be not conformed to this world. If you live like the world, you’ll be overcome by the world. It’s as simple as that. So don’t let the world squeeze you into its own mold.

Instead “…be transformed” by the entire renewal of your mind. Overcome the world by having your mind transformed to think like God thinks. In other words, when you see something in the Word, say, “I agree with that. From now on I’m acting on that instead of what I used to think.”

For example, when sin calls your name, don’t answer. Agree with the Word instead and say, “I’m dead to that, Devil. You can’t pull me into it anymore!”

As you do that, you’ll find yourself changing. You will find yourself living like a world overcomer!

Damned By Adultery ~ Pastor William Kumuyi

kumuyi

Topic: Damned By Adultery [December 27, 2016]

Text: Galatians 5:19-26

Key Verse: “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness” (Galatians 5:19).

Latimer was raised to the bishopric of Worcester in the reign of Henry VIII. It was the custom in those days for each of the bishops to make a present to the king on New Year Day. Latimer went with the rest of his brethren to make the usual offering. But instead of a purse of gold, he presented the king with a New Testament in which was a leaf doubled down to this passage. “Whoremongers and adulterers God will judge”.

Although, Paul’s aim of writing this epistle to the Galatians was to emphasise that salvation was by grace through faith, not of works lest any man should boast, he however highlighted in our text that grace is not a license to sin. He warned them of the danger of fulfilling the lusts of the flesh. All who live in sin shall not inherit the kingdom of God. The passage concluded with the presentation of the fruit of the Spirit, the evidences of the new life. In almost every listing of iniquities in the Scriptures, especially in the New Testament, adultery and fornication always stay on top.

This besetting sin has brought down more people than any other in the Scriptures. Thousands of Israelites died in the wilderness for their immoral engagements with the Moabites. David the greatest of Israel’s kings fell into the sin of adultery with Bathsheba, Uriah’s wife. And Solomon the wisest king had his heart turned away from God by his one thousand women, to mention but a few. Many great leaders in public office, politics, entertainment, business and other sectors including the church, have fallen victim to the sin of adultery with some ending their careers in shame.

As wise believers, we must keep our bodies under, like Paul recommended, lest after preaching the gospel to others, we ourselves become castaways. Our body is the temple of God and must always be presented as a royal diadem.

Thought for the day: Adultery is that ready pathway to perdition.

Spiritual Warfare I ~ Pastor E.A Adeboye

open-heaven-2016

Topic: Spiritual Warfare I [Tuesday 27, December 2016]

Memorise: For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;2 Corinthians 10:4

Read: Ephesians 6:10-15 (KJV)

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.

11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

Bible in One Year: Numbers 1:1-3:4, Psalms 137

MESSAGE:

Life is full of battles. This is confirmed by the Word of God in Job 5:7 which says that man is born into trouble. What determines whether you will be a victim or victor in the battle of life is who you choose as your ally. In Mark 5:25-34, we read about a woman with the issue of blood. She went through a lot in her battle with that sickness. If you do not think sickness is a serious thing, just ask for stomach pain for one hour, and then you will know that sickness is a war. Every agent of sickness fighting against your health shall be destroyed in Jesus’ name. Poverty is also a war, Proverbs 10:15 says poverty destroys. The poor is a victim or captive of the spirit of poverty, and the poor who refuses to fight the spirit of poverty will die poor. Besides, poverty makes your relations hate or look down on you (Proverbs 14:20). That means that if you refuse to fight against poverty, those who should become your friends will be your enemies. If you do not want to lose your loved ones, you must win the battle against poverty. Poverty shuts you up; it robs you of your right to the freedom of speech. The foolish ideas and opinions of the rich are heard at the roof tops while the most brilliant ideas of the poor are unheard. In anyway poverty has shut you up; the Lord will reverse the situation today in Jesus’ name. The book of 2 Corinthians 10:4 says:

“For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;”

All we need is to be equipped with the Word of God, live a holy life, and have strong faith in the saving Power of the Lord Jesus.

Barrenness is also a war. When Hannah was still childless, she was put in perpetual sorrow. She lost her right to joy. Is barrenness denying you of the joy of the Lord? The Lord will intervene and deliver it into your hands this season in Jesus’ name. Another thing to fight is bondage. The man in Mark 5:1-15 was in bondage. He lost the right to do what he wanted. When Paul saw himself doing what he hated, he knew he was in the same bondage as the mad man of Gadara (Romans 7:15-25). Yet, in both cases, God gave victory. Paul did not mince words; he called it a war. Are you struggling with sin? Start a fight against bondage. The Lord who rescued Paul and the Gadarene will give you victory over sin and your flesh today in Jesus’ name.

Prayer Point: Father, please fight my battles and defend my cause in Jesus’ name.

Appreciate His Love For You ~ Pastor Chris Oyakilome

pastor-chris-oyakhilome

Topic: Appreciate His Love For You [Monday, December 26th]

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us (Ephesians 3:20).

The Lord is more committed to your prosperity and progress than you could ever be. No matter the thoughts and desire you have for success, God sure has better thoughts and plans for your success. It brings to mind what the Spirit revealed through the prophet Jeremiah: “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Can you see that? It means that His thoughts towards you are always good; there’s no single thought of evil, sickness, poverty or negativity in His mind toward you. Think about it! Some people have lived with the erroneous belief that God is mad at them, and His disposition towards them is dependent on how good, nice or well-behaved they’ve been, but that’s not true. First, you need to understand that God is love (1 John 4:8,16). Secondly, He is goodness personified.

Luke’s submission in Acts 10:38 gives us an idea of His nature and disposition; His plans and purpose towards His people. It says, “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.” Let this be your meditation; ponder deeply on the Father’s love and affectionate disposition towards you. He said in 3 John 1:2, “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.”

Appreciate the Father’s love for you. He loves you more than you could possibly imagine; He loves you more than you love yourself, and he’s more desirous and passionate about your success than you could ever be. He seeks your good all the time. O, how gracious and loving He is!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I’m grateful for your love, and acknowledge your glory in my life. There’s none like you, blessed Father. You’ve made my heart your dwelling place, and beautified me with your righteousness. Your goodness, mercy, and grace follow me all the days of my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Study: || Proverbs 23:17-18 GNB ||

|| 1 John 4:10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son [to be] the propitiation for our sins. ||

The Miracle Of Christmas ~ Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

ext_0956

Topic: The Miracle Of Christmas [December 26, 2016]

“Then said Mary unto the angel, how shall this be, seeing that I know no man? And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the highest shall overshadow thee…” (Luke 1:34-35)

The angel came to Mary and said to her, “you are highly favoured by God. You shall conceive and bring forth a son and His name shall be called Jesus. He shall be great…” Mary stopped the angel and asked, “how shall this thing be?”

And the angel said with God, nothing is impossible. This is the miracle of Christmas. How can a woman be pregnant without knowing a man? It can only happen when God makes it happen. In other words, the angel was saying, “Mary you are in for a miracle.” A miracle is when God supernaturally intervenes in the affairs of men. How will He do it? The angel said, “… and the Holy Ghost shall come upon you. The power of the highest will over shadow you…”

You need the working of the Holy Ghost upon your life. When the spirit of Christ comes upon your life, the power of the enemy over your life will be broken. Your eyes will be opened and you will begin to see the power of God.

If you are sick in your body, you need the Holy Ghost to come upon you. A miracle is God intervening in the affairs of men. That is why Jesus was born. Jesus was born for God to intervene in your situation, life etc, He is a miraculous God. He remains the same. He is the unchangeable changer. People do not change Him. Circumstances do not change Him. He is the Alpha and Omega; the beginning and the end.

You may ask, “how shall this be?” The power of God will touch your husband, wife, business, job, boss etc. The miracle of Christmas will bring you your miracle in the name of Jesus.

FURTHER READING: Luke 1:28-25

WORDS OF WISDOM: Before you can defeat your environment, you must surrender to God first. If God cannot rule over you; you cannot defeat the devil.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: Place your hands on your head and say, if against all circumstances you brought Jesus into this world, you can change my life/condition. Be it done unto me according to your word.

Know Him As Daddy ~ Kenneth Copeland

kenneth-copeland

Topic: Know Him As Daddy [December 26, 2016]

For [the Spirit which] you have now received [is] not a spirit of slavery to put you once more in bondage to fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption [the Spirit producing sonship] in [the bliss of] which we cry, Abba (Father)! Father! – Romans 8:15, The Amplified Bible

One night after a worship service a friend of mine and I stepped outside and were suddenly awed by the beauty around us. It was one of those crisp, clear winter nights when the brilliance of the moon and stars nearly takes your breath away. I said to my friend, “Tommy, will you look at that!” Then he looked up with one of those Holy Ghost whole-face smiles and with a voice full of tenderness said, “My Daddy made that!”

“My Daddy….” I’ll never forget the way he said that.

Some people might think he shouldn’t have been talking in such familiar terms about God, but they’d be wrong. It’s scriptural to talk that way about Him. The Aramaic word for father—Abba—is used several times in the New Testament. The most accurate translation for that word in English is “Daddy.” It’s a word that signifies closeness. It speaks of a relationship that’s been developed through time spent together.

“Father” is one thing. “Daddy” is another.

Growing up, my father was sometimes my “Father” and sometimes my “Daddy.” When we were out duck hunting, he was “Daddy.” When he gave commands he meant to be obeyed instantly, he was “Father.”

God is like that too. He’s your Father and He’s your Daddy. There are times you’ll be very serious and down to business with one another. Other times you’ll be more lighthearted. But either way, once you fellowship with Him enough to get to know Him, I guarantee, you’ll want to be close to Him all the time.

Worship God Not Images ~ Pastor William Kumuyi

kumuyi

Topic: Worship God Not Images [December 26, 2016]

Text: Micah 1:1-10

Key Verse: “And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot” (Micah 1:7).

The religious formation under the African setting is usually arrayed around unwritten codes of laughable beliefs and activities. Statutes, images and relics are set up. Although these images do not hear prayers in their states, yet, they are revered and worshipped rather mindlessly. It is paradoxical that while adherents know that these images are dead, they continue to place fresh sacrifices around them, even though the so- called gods had not “consumed” the ones earlier placed.

Micah, in our text, did not go into any preambles. He introduced God as a Judge coming into His court to pronounce verdict. His coming made the earth to split and the mountains to melt with the rocks flowing like melted waterfall. As the judge comes to court, Israel and Judah were presented as the defendants. Without any need of witnesses, since their graven and molten images were everywhere in the high places, He declared a guilty verdict. The Northern kingdom had established its own religious system in competition with the Mosaic worship in the temple at Jerusalem. Jeroboam, fearing he may lose the loyalty of his people, led them into terrible idolatry.

The people of Judah also secretly began to worship the false gods of Canaan; and their hearts were not true to their God anymore. Why should lifeless images have such an appeal? It is a huge dilemma that man should worship gold and silver and the work of his hands. Believers must steer clear of idolatry in any form, and must disdain and reject the worship of images whether inside or outside the church. Idols are not merely the lifeless statues that men bow before. Anything cherished more than God is idolatrous. Whatever one elevates beyond the true and undivided lure for God is idolatrous, with a grave risk of courting God’s indignation.

Thought for the day: Idols are as dumb as those that worship them.
