Glory In A Dry Land ~ Pastor Chris Oyakilome

pastor-chris-oyakhilome

Topic: Glory In A Dry Land [Monday, December 12th]

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14).

The Lord testified of David that he was a man after His own heart (Acts 13:22). When you study about David, you’ll discover he was so passionate about the glory of God. The pursuit of his soul was to have and to see the glory of God. In Psalm 63:1-2, he said, “O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary.”

What a declaration! He described the land as “a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.” “Water,” in this context, typifies the Spirit of God. “A dry and thirsty land” typifies a place that’s destitute of the Spirit of God; a desolate land. David saw in the visions of God that in the sanctuary of God, there’s glory, and there’s power; so he yearned to see the same glory in a land destitute of the Spirit of God.

That tells us something; it makes no difference what obtains in the city or nation where you live or the demons in that particular region that hold sway over men’s lives; you can seek the manifestation of the glory of God in that place. It doesn’t matter the wickedness that has festered or the hunger, depravity, terror, and fear that have kept men in bondage; in that “dry and thirsty” land, you can establish the glory of God.

You do this through intercession and proclamation of the Word. Get filled with the Spirit and proclaim the Word over such countries, regions, cities, and towns. Don’t be quiet; keep at it until the anointing wells up in you to proclaim the Word of God that’ll change things. Under that unction, declare with boldness that the glory of God in the Gospel of Christ fills that land. Soon enough, the light of God’s Word that brings salvation, deliverance, and prosperity will shine brightly in those hitherto dark regions, and there’ll be a great harvest of souls. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the glorious light of your Gospel that’s beaming intensely on the dark places of the earth, bringing salvation, deliverance, prosperity, and imparting righteousness to the spirits of men. I declare that your glory covers the earth, lighting men’s lives to do your will, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Study: || Psalm 74:20-21 Have respect unto the covenant: for the dark places of the earth are full of the habitations of cruelty. 21 O let not the oppressed return ashamed: let the poor and needy praise thy name. ||

|| Isaiah 60:1-2 Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. 2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. ||

God Is Not Limited (3): Ignorance ~ Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

baba-15

Topic: God Is Not Limited (3): Ignorance [Monday 12, December 2016]

“Yea they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.” (Psalm 78:41)

In an American restaurant, an elderly man was sitting behind two undergraduates and the students were eating and complaining: “Oh, it is difficult to be educated.” The old man couldn’t bear it, so he tapped them on their shoulders and ordered them to shut up. Then he said to them, “If you think it is expensive to be educated, try ignorance.” The old man wanted them to realize that it is more expensive to be ignorant! Why?

Ignorance will cost you your life; it extinguishes God’s light in the life of a believer (Ephesians 4:18). The truth is, no believer can enjoy the benefit of his redemption in Christ if He is ignorant. No wonder Hosea 4:6a says: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge… This implies that God’s people are not destroyed because they do not pray well, or give well, or fast well enough. It is because they do not know their rights as children of God. It is often said in the world that what you do not know cannot kill you. However in the realm of the spirit, what you do not know kills you even faster.

Many church folks have adopted wrong approaches to life’s challenges and so cannot get the result that they are expecting. They pray wrongly, live in disobedience, make negative confessions, imitate the unbelievers and often times run to them for advice because they do not know what they possess as children of God. They do not even know what God’s word says about situations.

Ignorance will limit God in your life to the extent that you forget who you are in Christ and become a victim of inferiority complex. Gideon did not believe that he was a “mighty man of valour” until God led him to his enemies camp. Do not run away from the devil but face him for your strength is in God.

Tune In ~ Kenneth Copeland

Topic: Tune In [December 12, 2016]

He that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. – 1 Corinthians 14:2

Have you ever looked around at your own life or the life of the Church and wondered why it’s taking the Lord so long to get things in order?

If so, let me tell you something I learned a few years ago. He’s not the One who’s slow. We are!

It’s not God’s fault that the Church still has spots and wrinkles. It’s not His fault that we’re not living in total victory. He’s always ready. He’s the great “I AM.” We’re the ones who fall short.

Compare it to turning on a radio. If you don’t have it tuned to exactly the right frequency, you won’t be able to hear the station. It’s not the station’s fault. It’s sending out signals perfectly. The problem is, you haven’t tuned in to it.

That’s what’s happening with you and me. We haven’t fine tuned our spirits enough to pick up the voice of the Spirit. Oh, we pick up a few things now and then, but mostly we just fade in and out. We don’t stay on God’s wavelength all the time.

How do you adjust your spiritual tuner?

By praying in the spirit. Praying in other tongues is the fastest, most effective method I know of to tune in to God—because instead of praying your own thoughts and plans, you’re praying His!

The Bible says that when you pray in tongues, you’re speaking mysteries to God. In the spirit, you’re calling forth parts of God’s plan you don’t even understand with your natural mind. By the unction of the Holy Spirit, you’re praying the perfect will of God.

You see, God knows how to deliver His people. He knows how to turn us into the glorious Church without spot or wrinkle. He has a plan that will do it. And if we’ll tap in to that plan and start releasing it into the earth by praying in the spirit, praying according to His will and not our own, this age will draw to a close quickly. If we’ll all get our minds and hearts in tune with what God’s doing, there will be an explosion of the power of God that will turn this world around!

Start adjusting your spiritual tuner today. Spend an hour praying in other tongues. Set your spirit on God’s wavelength and just see how quickly the spots and wrinkles begin to disappear from you.

Wanted: Absolute Turn Around ~ Pastor William Kumuyi

kumuyi

Topic – Wanted: Absolute Turn Around [December 12, 2016]

Text: Isaiah 28:22-29

Key Verse: “This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working” (Isaiah 28:29).

A man recently lost his life because of his inability to heed simple health advice from his physician. He had the problem of alcoholism and was severally warned, in his own interest, to desist from the habit. Even when he had been diagnosed with liver problem (cirrhosis), he continued in his drunkenness until he was eventually slain by the evil habit. Whatever sin a man cherishes, if he does not repent, such is likely to lead him into some terrible and more complicated problems.

This was the point Prophet Isaiah wanted to make to sinning Israel. He had called to remembrance, the goodness of God to Israel and the folly of hypocrisy by the people. He had reminded them that if they continued to harden their hearts, God would consume them in his wrath. Isaiah warned them of the unfruitfulness of continuing in their mockery of the word of God (verse 22). The prophet reminded them that being in captivity was not even the worst form of punishment, but that the Almighty was capable of making their bands stronger and could wipe them away from the face of the earth if they did not repent. This captures the situation of some believers today who, though are passing through some challenges purely brought about by their disobedience to God, still remain obstinate in their folly.

Rather than repent and pray for forgiveness they begin to heap iniquity upon iniquity thereby attracting more punishment unto themselves. If you are in this category, you have the opportunity today to repent and seek God’s mercy. And He will abundantly pardon. For everyone graciously emancipated from sin, how we need to thread carefully the paths of this life which has the capacity to make the unwary miss the mark.

Thought for the day: He who avoids sin like the proverbial plague is wise.

Acceptable Unto God ~ Pastor E.A Adeboye

open-heaven-2016

Topic: Acceptable Unto God [Monday 12, December 2016]

Memorise: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.Romans 12:1

Read: Acts 10:34-35 (KJV)

34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:

35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

Bible in One Year: Exodus 35:30-38:20, Psalms 119:81-96

MESSAGE:

God’s acceptability of any human being is an act of His love, mercy, grace and favour. This is clearly evident in God’s interaction with the nation of Israel and the Gentiles. However, the Bible reveals that God does not open His arms to all who come to Him; there are heavenly conditions for acceptability. God accepts people who respond to him by faith. This is why we have categories of children in the Kingdom of God. Jesus Christ is the Only Begotten of the Father (John 1:14), while the rest of us that are saved are His adopted children. Amongst the adopted children, there are golden, sliver, wooden and earthen sons and daughters. Also, there are repentant and reliable as well as deceitful and unreliable children. What kind of child are you?

Although, God loves all His children, yet, not all of them please Him equally. While the unrepentant ones displease the Lord, the repentant and reliable ones please Him. In John 4:34 Jesus says,”….My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” God’s acceptability therefore depends squarely on our readiness to pay the price of loyalty and obedience to God. Jesus paid the ultimate price; He dumped His personal desires and aspiration for that of His Father’s. What He enjoyed doing the most was making God very happy. Even when the task involved giving His life, He obliged. At the Garden of Gethsemane, when He was struggling between His own will and God’s will, He gave up His (Matthew 26:39-42). No wonder God gave such a wonderful commendation of Jesus in Matthew 17:5

“While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.”

Hence, to be acceptable to God as a beloved son or daughter is not an easy task. It requires total submission to God’s will and total obedience to His commandments. This translates to living our lives to please God in all ramifications. Some people are ready to please God only when the price is affordable or cheap. For instance, a beloved child of God will not struggle with paying tithe or placing personal preference on fashion, entertainment, and other social consideration above the Word of God. Are you ready to pay the price for God’s acceptability?

Prayer Point: Father, help me to meet the standard of Your acceptability in the Name of Jesus.

The Power Of True Worship ~ Pastor Chris Oyakilome

pastor-chris-oyakhilome

Topic: The Power Of True Worship [Sunday, December 11th]

And there I will meet with the children of Israel, and the tabernacle shall be sanctified by my glory (Exodus 29:43).

In worship, God talks to us. As you minister to Him, He ministers to your spirit as well. Heaven is never silent on the worshipper. When you need direction, guidance or a supernatural intervention, worship the Lord. In Acts 13:1-2, the Bible says, “…as they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Ghost said…” letting us know that the power of God’s Spirit is manifested in an atmosphere of true worship.

True worship isn’t the casual rendition of your favourite Christian tunes; it’s the lifting of your heart and hands to the Lord, in reverence of His awesome majesty. It involves making confessions to His Name on the basis of who He is, in line with the revelation of His personality in the Word.

The Lord Jesus, in John 4:23, outlines true worship as that which is done in spirit and in truth; meaning that you’re to worship the Father from your spirit and according to His Word. For example, His Word says, “…and the lifting up of my hands be as the evening sacrifice” (Psalm 141:2); that means one of the ways of effective worship is to lift your hands to the Lord. There’s something deeply spiritual and powerful in lifting your hands to the Lord in worship; you’re offering to Him a sacrifice of sweet smelling savour.

As you sing and bless His Name, lift your hands to Him as well, and focus on Him. Soon enough, you’ll be enraptured in the warmth of His love and the glory of His divine presence. Do this often; not only when you’re in church, but in your room, car, office—everywhere and anywhere!

Recall what the Lord said to the children of Israel in our opening verse; He was referring to the place of worship. That’s where He meets you, and opens your eyes to see in the spirit and helps you receive the divine touch you need for your next level of glory. Hallelujah!

PRAYER

Dear Father, I lift my holy hands to you even now, in love, appreciation and worship! You’ve made my life glorious; you’ve made my path straight; you’ve made my destiny one of greatness and never-ending victories and possibilities; for these, I praise your holy Name and extol your majesty. Thank you for your presence and glory in my life, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Further Study: || 1 Timothy 2:8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. ||

|| John 4:23-24 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. 24 God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth. ||

|| Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. ||
