Determined People Succeed ~ Joyce Meyer

Topic: Determined People Succeed [December 7, 2016]

[Urged on] by faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed and went forth to a place which he was destined to receive as an inheritance; and he went, although he did not know or trouble his mind about where he was to go. — Hebrews 11:8

I enjoy watching or reading biographies of various people who have succeeded in ministry, entertainment, or business. Without fail, almost every one of them has “paid their dues,” so to speak. What I mean is that in the early days of their quest they had to be very determined not to give up or quit. They endured many failures before having any success.

Occasionally, we see what I call “shooting stars,” people who quickly rise to the top of their profession without going through all the difficult early days, but they normally don’t last too long. They come out of nowhere and disappear just as quickly. Character is developed during difficult times. Our call and desires are tested when we are told no, time after time, and still remain determined.

I am told that Abraham Lincoln ran for several public offices and was defeated several times before he was elected to the office of president of the United States. Many people would have given up, but not him. Thomas Edison, who invented the electric light, had about a thousand experiments fail before he succeeded.

Only determined people succeed. Just because we take a step of faith does not mean that we will avoid the rest of the process. God usually builds slow and solid, not fast and fragile.

Music: One Thing – Emmanuel Anamonye [@Emmaonething]

img_20161207_203552

‘‘Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord’’! (psalm 150:6). God created us to show forth His praise. Praising God is a unique privilege because that is what God does not do for Himself.  Praise is a response to the very nature of God and it agrees with who the Bible declares Him to be. Praise brings us into the safety of God’s presence.

Thanksgiving responds to the acts and works of God while praise takes it further and deeper by declaring the glory of God. Praise is a weapon: Most times, where prayer stops, praise takes it further.

Introducing, Emmanuel Emeka Anamonye (Mr. Onething), a song writer, composer, music producer, music director and gospel artist. To him; every other thing is secondary to praising God. Through his close fellowship with God, the Holy Spirit has inspired him with hundreds of new songs among which he is releasing his first official single track titled ‘One thing’. Download the song and praise your maker. May we never be replaced with stones in the place of praise.

#Onething on my mind…. #Onething is more than a song…. #Onething is the brand…. #Onething is a reality…. #My Onething is ‘Praise’.

Things Your Crown Will Do For You (1): Helem ~ Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

Topic: Press In [December 7, 2016]

“And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah, and to Hen the son of Zephaniah, for a memorial in the temple of the LORD.” (Zechariah 6:14).

Helem means “Robust” or “healthy” As a child of God, the crown on your head will give you good Health. Whenever the devil wants to take the crown from a believer, one of his major areas of attack is the believer’s body. This is the reason why some of you have escaped accidents successively. The grace of God will shield you from the mischievous devices of the enemy.

It is the wish of God that you remain in good health. Therefore, anything that attacks your body is from the pit of hell. Some of you have been going in and out of hospital as if it is a normal way of life. Today, as we join hands in agreement we serve the devil a quit notice and terminate his attack with immediate effect in Jesus name.

PRAYER/CONFESSION: O Lord my Father, open the windows of my own life in Jesus mighty name. Father, keep me connected always to you in Jesus mighty name. Amen.

FURTHER READING: Jeremiah 30:17; 3 John 2.

WORDS OF WISDOM: Good health at all times is God’s wish for you.

Eagles Devotional is a daily revelatory and inspirational Publication by Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the founder and presiding Pastor of Word of Life Bible Church, Warri, Nigeria.

Press In ~ Kenneth Copeland

Topic: Press In [December 7, 2016]

Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…. – Colossians 3:16

Things in this old world aren’t getting any better, and in recent times, the Holy Spirit has been speaking an urgent message to my heart. He’s been saying, Press in. Draw in to a more intimate relationship with your heavenly Father. If you don’t, you won’t make it. If you do, you will see more glorious outpourings of God than you can imagine.

That message isn’t just for me. It’s also for you—and for every other believer on the earth today. We are in the last of the last days of this age. Jesus is coming soon. It’s an exciting time, but it’s also a dangerous time. Those who don’t do what the Spirit says, who don’t press in to the Lord, are going to go from disaster to disaster. But those who do will defeat the disasters and turn them into glory, in Jesus’ Name!

Your first step in drawing closer to God is to realize that you know God first in His Word. Time spent meditating in the New Testament is time spent with Jesus.

Most people don’t realize that. So, instead of getting to know the Lord through His Word, they try to know Him through their feelings and that just won’t work.

Letting the Word dominate your thinking is to allow the Holy Spirit to have control over your mind. As you do that, your feelings will eventually fall in line.

Remember this: John 1 tells us that Jesus is the Word. That means, when you spend time in it, you’re spending time with Jesus. When His Word is dwelling in you richly, then Jesus is dwelling in you richly too!

Don’t go from disaster to disaster. Take those disasters and turn them into glory, in Jesus’ Name. Press in to Jesus. Press in to the Word and you’ll make it through these dangerous days just fine!

Scripture Reading: John 1:1-14

This message was written by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland, the leader of the Kenneth Copeland Ministries (www.KCM.org) that specializes in teaching principles of bible faith – prayer, healing, salvation and other biblical topics.

Flee Idolatry ~ Pastor William Kumuyi

Topic: Flee Idolatry [December 7, 2016]

Text: 1 Kings 18:17-29

Key Verse: “And call on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of the LORD: and the God that answereth by fire, let him be God. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken” (1 Kings 18:24).

In our world today, competitions are familiar experiences in the field s of sports and entertainment. Wrestlers and boxers particularly, give a clear picture of a fierce contest between two individuals seeking to prove their superiority over each other. Our passage today invites us to come over and witness the defeat and disappointment of the idolatrous.

Following the apostasy of the people of Israel under Ahab, Elijah, the prophet of God was provoked to challenge the worshippers of Baal to present their gods at Mount Carmel for a contest with the true God of Israel. He confronted Ahab with the truth of his negative influence and his idolatrous practices in Israel. Both Ahab and the 850 prophets of Baal as well as the people of Israel were then invited to appear on Mount Carmel to prove which is the true God between Jehovah and Baal.

The confidence that Elijah had in the true God motivated him to challenge the other gods that the people worship. The narrative confirms that the prophets of Baal, in their foolishness, tried their best to prove that their idols could be compared with the true God. Of course, they failed as their gods refused to answer them even after calling from morning till evening and cutting themselves with knives and lancets. At the end of their futile attempts, the Baal prophets became tired, frustrated, and woefully disappointed. They even lost their lives in the process, because Elijah did not spare them.

How true the Scripture is, that:”…they that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them(Psalm 115:4-8). Who is your God? The challenge for us today is to flee idolatry and fight against anything that will separate us from the true God.

Thought for the day: Idolatrous practices attract divine displeasure.

Parents! Lead The Way ~ Pastor E.A Adeboye

open-heaven-2016

Topic: Parents! Lead The Way [Wednesday 7, December 2016]

Memorise: Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. – Proverbs 22:6

Read: Psalms 127:3-5 (KJV)

3 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.

4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.

5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

Bible in One Year: Exodus 25-26, Psalms 119:1-16

MESSAGE:

Discipline in the family happens when parents lovingly correct and train their children in accordance with the Word of God, so that they may grow up in the way of the Lord. The type of relationship that exists between parents and their children determines whether the children will be disciplined or not. When a servant misbehaves, you may ignore his offence but when a son or daughter commits the same offence, they should not get away with it. It is the goal of every reasonable parent to ensure that their children are better versions of themselves. On the other hand, some parents are extreme; they don’t discipline, but crush their children. Being high-handed is applying discipline the other way round. Matthew 5:48 says, we should be as perfect as our Heavenly Father; God wants us to be as good as Himself. Jesus, the Prince of Peace wants us to be even better; hence, He says we will do greater works than He did. My joy as the General Overseer of the RCCG is in seeing my spiritual children excel and achieve greater heights than myself. I decree into the lives of everyone using this devotional right now, you will excel in all that you lay your hands on and you will achieve greater heights than myself in Jesus’ name.

Meanwhile, children are naturally naughty, that is why Proverbs 22:15 says:

“Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; But the rod of correction shall drive it far from him.”

Since Adam’s fall, this has been the trend. You do not need to teach a child to be angry before he or she manifests it, even at infancy. It is innate.  So when a father wants his child to become like him, he would have to employ his rod of correction. How often do you correct your children? Proverbs 29:15 says any child left to himself will bring shame to the parents and Proverbs 29:17 says the child that is disciplined will give joy and peace to the parents.

Don’t over pamper your children. Don’t spoil them by using love as an excuse. Many ladies do not know how to cook or handle domestic chores because their parents left everything to the house-help. You are undoing your children if you deny them good home training and discipline. You owe it to your children to discipline them. If you fail to give it to them, the result of their indiscipline will haunt you here on earth and you will have a case to answer in heaven.

Prayer Point: Father, please don’t let me disappoint You over my children in Jesus’ name.

Open Heavens Daily Devotional guide was written by Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, one of the largest evangelical church in the world and also the President of Christ the Redeemer’s Ministries.
