DCLM Daily Manna 1 JUNE 2021 Devotional By Pastor W. F. Kumuyi — God Never Fails
TOPIC: God Never Fails
TEXT: Genesis 25:1-11
1 Then again Abraham took a wife, and her name was Keturah.
2 And she bare him Zimran, and Jokshan, and Medan, and Midian, and Ishbak, and Shuah.
3 And Jokshan begat Sheba, and Dedan. And the sons of Dedan were Asshurim, and Letushim, and Leummim.
4 And the sons of Midian; Ephah, and Epher, and Hanoch, and Abida, and Eldaah. All these were the children of Keturah.
5 And Abraham gave all that he had unto Isaac.
6 But unto the sons of the concubines, which Abraham had, Abraham gave gifts, and sent them away from Isaac his son, while he yet lived, eastward, unto the east country.
7 And these are the days of the years of Abraham’s life which he lived, an hundred threescore and fifteen years.
8 Then Abraham gave up the ghost, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years; and was gathered to his people.
9 And his sons Isaac and Ishmael buried him in the cave of Machpelah, in the field of Ephron the son of Zohar the Hittite, which is before Mamre;
10 The field which Abraham purchased of the sons of Heth: there was Abraham buried, and Sarah his wife.
11 And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.
KEY VERSE: “And it came to pass after the death of Abraham, that God blessed his son Isaac; and Isaac dwelt by the well Lahairoi.” – (Genesis 25:11)
MESSAGE:
The lyrics of a song, ‘God is never too late’ by Abraham Saturday, say:”Lord you’re never too late; Lord, you’re always on time; there is no time you arrive that is late! We just have to believe in your word.” God’s promise to Abraham that he would be the father of many nations was continued through Keturah. Through her, he had six sons, seven grandchildren and three great grand-children.
Although Abraham was well over one hundred years old at the time he married Keturah, God aided him and Sarah to give birth to the promised child, Isaac. In spite of an initial setback in Sarah giving birth to a child; and though it seemed that the promise of God to Abraham was not forthcoming, at the appointed time, God made everything possible.
Someone noted that the desire to get married or have children is a good, holy desire. But what if God’s time in fulfilling that promise is His way of giving you a greater gift? Likewise, the desire to work hard and provide for family and church is a good, holy desire. But what if instead of your dream job or promotion, God wants to fill you with a purpose that will outlast any position? What God wants for our lives is always better than the goals and dreams we could imagine for ourselves. Instead of focusing on when God’s promise will be fulfilled, try focusing on what God is teaching you as you wait.
God never stops working for our good – no matter how much time goes by. If we have faith that God holds our eternity, we can have faith that He holds our everyday. When things do not go as we plan, hope for, or pray for, we can rest in the assurance of knowing that God’s promises never fail us.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:
Ride the rough road with faith in the Lord.
THE BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:
