Bethel: Heaven’s Gate ~ Pastor E.A Adeboye

open-heaven-2016

Topic – Bethel: Heaven’s Gate [Saturday 10, December 2016]

Memorise: And Jacob called the name of the place where God spake with him, Bethel. – Genesis 35:15

Read: Genesis 35:1-7 (KJV)

1 And God said unto Jacob, Arise, go up to Bethel, and dwell there: and make there an altar unto God, that appeared unto thee when thou fleddest from the face of Esau thy brother.

2 Then Jacob said unto his household, and to all that were with him, Put away the strange gods that are among you, and be clean, and change your garments:

3 And let us arise, and go up to Bethel; and I will make there an altar unto God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and was with me in the way which I went.

4 And they gave unto Jacob all the strange gods which were in their hand, and all their earrings which were in their ears; and Jacob hid them under the oak which was by Shechem.

5 And they journeyed: and the terror of God was upon the cities that were round about them, and they did not pursue after the sons of Jacob.

6 So Jacob came to Luz, which is in the land of Canaan, that is, Bethel, he and all the people that were with him.

7 And he built there an altar, and called the place Elbethel: because there God appeared unto him, when he fled from the face of his brother.

Bible in One Year: Exodus 30:22-33:6, Psalms 119:49-64

MESSAGE:

Bethel is the house of God, a place where God dwelled with His people. Over time, the Bible redefined the true place of worship to be the heart of man. Today therefore, Bethel could be said to represent the house of God, the true place of worship, or the dwelling place of God. The Samaritan woman by the well asked a million-dollar question from Jesus about the location of the heavenly approved place of worship. Jesus answered by saying that the time has come when the location is not of utmost importance to God anymore. John 4:23 says:

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.”

The realization that man is the dwelling place of God should be taken seriously by every Christian. Several passages in the Bible confirm this truth. 1 Corinthians 6:19 says:

“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”

The freedom and liberty granted to Christians at conversion does not translate to ownership and absolute authority over ourselves as some erroneously think. Brethren, you are not your own, you belong to God your creator, you owe your allegiance to Him and you will do well to live your life with that consciousness. This will help you to be conscious of what you do with your body. It will help you to avoid anything that could abuse the body such as sexual immorality, indecent exposure, drug abuse, alcoholism, etc. it will also help you to watch what you consume or take into your body such as literature, audio and video contents. Realizing that your body is the temple of God will also affect the type of company that you keep and where you go.

More importantly, 1 Corinthians 3:17 says:

“If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.”

Children of God should avoid doing anything that can defile them. In addition to the things mentioned above, engaging in any form of cosmetic reconstruction of the body in order to change or improve one’s complexion, sexual orientation, or appearance, is a defilement of God’s temple.

Prayer Point: Father, please let Your fire wake me up to my responsibility in Christ.

Guard Your Vision ~ Pastor Chris Oyakilome

pastor-chris-oyakhilome

Topic: Guard Your Vision [Friday, December 9th]

Be sensible and don’t tell everything you know… (Proverbs 12:23 CEV).

When you walk with the Lord, He gives you visions for your future; visions about your life, the things He wants to accomplish with you and through you. He causes you to see into the future so you can head for that future. Everybody may not see what you see, or know the future God is guiding you into. But some people try to tell everybody what God is showing them about their future. That’ll be a mistake, except if He’s the one leading you to talk about it.

Understand that Satan doesn’t know what you see, until you tell him; he doesn’t know everything. When he hears about what you see, then he starts scheming how to work out a plan to try to stop you. There’re people who, because they couldn’t keep certain things to themselves, lost the beautiful idea they received from the Spirit. Once they got the idea for something, they started telling people about it, and Satan got wind of it and devised means to stop the idea from materializing. Don’t give him that chance.

Our theme verse says, “Be sensible and don’t tell everything you know….” Don’t always tell your plans to non-Christians. Whatever idea God gives you, get started with it first before talking about it; or else you may never start. It’s not because the people that know about your vision or even the devil can stop you; no. It’s because there’s a spirit that works with them; they may exude a certain kind of negativism that could dampen your zeal for what God wants you to do, if you’re not careful. So, be spiritually smart. The Bible says, “Watch your words and hold your tongue; you’ll save yourself a lot of grief” (Proverbs 21:23 MSG).

PRAYER

Dear Father, thank you for the visions of the great future that you have for me. My heart is flooded with light to see, comprehend, and apprehend my glorious destiny in Christ. I follow the leading of the Holy Spirit as He unveils His plans and strategies to me in executing the ideas you give me for success in life and ministry, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Love: The Secret Of Success ~ Kenneth Copeland

kenneth-copeland

Topic – Love: The Secret Of Success [December 9, 2016]

Love never fails. – 1 Corinthians 13:8, The Amplified Bible

Fear of failure. It’s haunted all of us at some time in our lives. Popular psychology tells us to adjust to it. But the Word of God tells us that there is a failure-proof way to live without it. It is the way of love.

If you want to know real success, you must learn to be moved and motivated by love. That’s how Jesus was when He was on the earth.

Even when John the Baptist was senselessly, brutally murdered and Jesus went away to be alone, He didn’t deviate from the way of love. For Matthew 14:6-14 says that even then in that emotionally taxing time when the people followed Him and would give Him no solitude, He was moved with compassion and healed their sick.

I used to wonder how Jesus could just turn away from that terrible crime and not retaliate. What I didn’t realize was that He did retaliate. He overcame the works of Satan with compassion. He defeated hatred with love. He attacked Satan in the spirit realm by destroying his works of sickness and disease.

Compassion doesn’t strike at the surface of things. It goes to the root of the problem. That’s why it always succeeds.

“But wait!” you may say. “I can’t operate like that. I’m not Jesus.”

Yes you can, because the Word of God says that His love has been shed abroad in your heart! (Rom. 5:5). And 1 John 2:5 says His love is perfected in you as you keep His Word.

Commit to living the life of love today. Watch God turn failure into success at home, at work…in any situation. Love never fails!

Things Your Crown Will Do For You (3): ‘Jedaiah’ ~ Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor

Topic: Things Your Crown Will Do For You (3): ‘Jedaiah’ [December 9, 2016]

“And the crowns shall be to Helem, and to Tobijah, and to Jedaiah …

(Zechariah 6:14).

Jedaiah means “Known by God”. Because of the crown on your head, heaven knows who you are and that is why your voice is recognized. When heaven knows you, you are as solid as a rock; you are untouchable, unstoppable and unbreakable. In Job 1:8, God introduced Job to Satan; Satan does not want to hear such an introduction about you, which is why he pressed for an opportunity to remove the crown on Job’s head. In the midst of trouble Job said: “Though he slay me, yet I will trust in him”

As a believer, if your Redeemer is alive, you are alive too; your home, business, education, Job are all alive.

PRAYER / CONFESSION: Lord because you know me, I am solid as a rock; I am unmovable, unstoppable untouchable and unbreakable.

WORDS OF WISDOM: When you are known by God you are unstoppable.

Remember His Goodness ~ Pastor William Kumuyi

Topic: Remember His Goodness [December 9, 2016]

Text: Psalm 78:10-20

Key Verse: “They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law; And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them” (Psalm 78:10, 11).

“Some of us are like people who, when they get better of their sicknesses, grudge the doctor’s bill. We forget the mercies as soon as they are past, because we only enjoyed the sensuous sweetness of them while it tickled our palate; and forgot, in the enjoyment of them, of whose love it was that they spoke to us. Sorrows and joys, bring them all in your thanksgivings, and forget not the works of God” – A.

Maclaren D.D. Ephraim forgot the many mighty works and mercies of the Lord! These same wonders made the Canaanites quiver and fear the God of Israel and the Israel of God. The miraculous plagues that was brought on Pharaoh and his subjects; the dividing of the Red Sea, which when the armies of Egypt assayed to do were all drowned; leading them with a pillar of cloud by day and pillar of fire by night through the forty years of wilderness wanderings; providing manna and water to feed the multitude with no feeble one among them. These were all the manifest goodness and lovingkindness of God. Meanwhile, Ephraim did not keep the covenant of God. Their proud hearts refused to walk in His way, finding more pleasure in the ways of the heathen surrounding them. They despised the word, the will and the way of God. No wonder they soon forgot the works and wonders of God.

The result of forgetting what we should remember and keep remembering in our journey with God will always compromise our relationship with Him and reduce us into carnal believers who only relate with God for what we can derive from Him. When the going gets tough, we complain, murmur and threaten to return to old and familiar ways. God’s faithfulness and goodness must spur us into greater trust and confidence in Him, avoiding meticulously the opportunistic bent of Ephraim.

Thought for the day: Forgetting God’s kind deeds makes a Christian a sour grape.

It Is Time To Overflow II ~ Pastor E.A Adeboye

open-heaven-2016

Topic: It Is Time To Overflow II [Friday 9, December 2016]

Memorise: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. – 3 John 1: 2

Read: Exodus 23:25 (KJV)

25 And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.

Bible in One Year: Exodus 29:1-30:21, Psalms 119:33-48

MESSAGE:

From our Bible reading for today, we see a positive relationship between our service to God, what we eat and our health. Christians are supposed to overflow in health, so much that when we touch sick people, they become healed. Many Christians joke with their service to God, no wonder they fall sick. I thank God and give Him all glory for my life; ever since I sold myself out to the service of God, He has been my only Doctor. I remember vividly well how I used to battle with malaria helplessly, until one day when I decided to enter into an agreement with God, I told Him to heal me of malaria permanently and I will serve Him, and malaria has been a stranger to me since then. When you serve God wholeheartedly, He will ensure that no sickness stays in your body.

Another reason why some Christians are sick is because of what they eat. Our Bible reading for today says that God will bless your food and water and you will not fall sick, but many don’t ask God to bless their food before eating it. Also, God cannot bless what He has not approved of. Our Body is His temple, and anything that can destroy His temple is not approved by Him. We must keep away from junk food, over eating, unhealthy eating habits and the likes. God does not approve of food or drinks that are injurious to our health. Eat more of fresh vegetables and fruits. Eat the right quantity at the right time of the day. Stop overeating. Stay fit, exercise regularly. Some Christians quote Apostle Paul in 1 Timothy 4:8

“For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”

Yes it is true that bodily exercise profits a little, however, that little must not be done away with. We must take care of God’s temple so that it can be available for Him to use when He needs it.

Key Point: Pay attention to your health, God prefers you healthy than sick.

Power For Living ~ Joyce Meyer

joyce-meyer

Topic: Power For Living [December 9, 2016]

So be subject to God. Resist the devil [stand firm against him], and he will flee from you. — James 4:7

It is not going to do us one bit of good to try to resist the devil if we are not going to submit to God, because the power to resist the devil is found in submitting to God. If you want to keep Satan under your feet, you have to walk in obedience. Don’t have any known disobedience, any purposeful disobedience in your life.

Do I ever disobey God? Yes, but I don’t do it on purpose. I might lose my temper and say something that I shouldn’t. But as soon as God starts dealing with me about it, I do what He says. I have a reverential fear of God in my life, and I think we need a lot more of that. I believe that God is God, and I believe He means business. If He tells me to do something, He means it, and when He tells me not to do something, He means it. Yes, we live under grace, but grace is not an excuse to sin; grace is the power to live a holy life. Disobedience is one of Satan’s favorite entrances by which to gradually draw us into a web of sin that is devastating for us in the end.

Lord, I know that there is power for living today as I submit my life to You. Thank You for the grace that empowers me to walk in obedience. Amen.

“Defender is born” is a Christmas song which was inspired by the Holy Spirit just to remind us that Jesus is not just a saviour but also a defender of the defenseless. A lot of people are looking for one true person to hear them out in their lives situation and fight for them.

Jesus is a defender and every Christmas season and more often, we need to remind ourselves that Jesus Christ our defender is born. Alleluia
