Topic: On The Long Run [Friday March 10, 2017]
“Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.” (Matthew 3:18)
You fast and pray, but what service are you rendering, and what is the quality of your service? The thing about the wood we discussed yesterday is that you can’t take or borrow another person’s own. In the story of the ten virgins, five were wise and five were foolish. The wise ones kept their fire burning while the foolish ones did not. By the time they realised their mistake and tried to borrow, it was too late. The rule didn’t permit borrowing. The wise ones obtained fulfilment while the foolish ones didn’t. (Mark 25:1-13). The end tells the difference.
What the above passage is saying is that with time, you will see the difference between those that render service in the house of God and those who don’t. It is one thing to be a professing Christian and an entirely different thing to be one who serves God. Christians come to church, close and go home. Those who serve God render invaluable services in the house of God.
Let them laugh at you because you are giving your all to God. One thing they don’t know is that you are keeping your fire burning while theirs have gone out. Another thing they don’t realise is that Christianity is not all about this world. In addition to the earthly blessing, there is the afterlife blessing.
Your service cannot be in vain. The God of the altar upon which your fire is burning will send you deliverance and answer you speedily. Today, God will visit you from His holy altar and reward you bountifully.
WORD OF WISDOM: Take up His burden and see your burden roll away.
PRAYER/CONFESSION: LORD, you are the God I render service to continually. Deliver me. Send me the answer to this my prayer (Mention it, you know what it is).
