Wisdom For The Day Devotional 19 August 2024 By Bishop Mike Okonkwo – Benefits Of Being Righteous
TOPIC: Benefits Of Being Righteous (TREM Devotional 19 August 2024)
“The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry.” Ps 34:15 (KJV)
MESSAGE:
Beloved, you must understand that righteousness is unearned and undeserved. You do not labour for it. God gave it to you. Romans 5:17 says: “For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, the just shall live by faith.” This scripture clarifies that righteousness is a gift, meaning you did not work for it or earn it. It is, therefore, an insult to the finished work of Christ to reject what He suffered to give to you for free. If you can do it for yourself, why then did He come?
There are benefits you get as a righteous person that you never get or experience until you know who you are in Christ. For instance, the Lord orders the steps of the good man. In other words, when you step out every morning, God will order your steps. You won’t wonder if it will be good because you know it will be good.
Another benefit is in Psalm 37:24: “Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down: For the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.” In other words, there is nothing like a total failure for a child of God. The righteous can’t fall and not be able to rise because the Lord will uphold him. “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: But the wicked shall fall into mischief.” (Proverbs 24:16 KJV). Seven times means the perfect number. It means as the righteous, there is no failure in you. There is nothing the devil can do that can destroy you.
Another benefit is that you become bold. You must be established in righteousness to be bold. Another benefit is that God delivers you from all your affliction. And finally, the eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous and His ears open wide to their cry.
